Growing up with my parents has been a hell of a rollercoaster of emotions and feelings, imagine having to deal with a million do’s and don’ts everyday of my life for the last couple of decades. Don’t do this, don’t do that, eat this, eat that, don’t consume excess sugar because it’s bad for your health, they just won’t let us enjoy our teenage life…
The funniest thing is that even at this youthful age of mine, i still have to deal with their do’s and don’ts, especially from my mum, that woman is just too motherly 😂. A big shoutout to every mothers out there, they just can’t help but present us with too many restrictions, at the end of the day they say it’s for our own good…
Let me more specific on this aspect of do’s and don’ts, using sugar intake as an example, when it comes to the consumption of sugar, my mum has always been on the strict opposing side of its intake, irregardless of the quantity. Left to her she would prefer we consume most of the foods that needs sugar to eaten and enjoyed without sugar, including pap, cassava granules, oats and custards. This is to tell you how strict my mum is on sugar intake…
The truth is that i have never been really affected by her restrictions on sugar intake, when she is present I follow the rules and when she’s absent i consume it to my satisfaction and probably in excess, this is me for you…
I don’t think i have stayed away from sugar for straight one week, the only time i was forced to stay away from it was when i was down with sickness and i was advised to stay away or reduce it to the minimum amount for the sake of my health. The truth is that i still sneakily consume it, mostly in form of sodas, carbonated drinks and beverages…
Too much of sugar is bad; this is something i have been hearing all my life. I know and understand that too much of it is bad for the health, but not in most cases. I have been an all-time sugar eater, there was a time i got sick and i went to the hospital and the doctor in charge asked me to take a sugar test. I took the test and guess what?, the test result stated that i had low sugar level, this was surprising and funny, and that is because i consumed foods with high sugar levels, be it carbonated drinks, beverages and the likes…
It was at this point I knew better. I have also had my share of sickness from my excessive intake of sugar, not once and definitely not twice, after falling terribly sick a couple of times, i have been forced to consume herbal drinks and supplements that alleviates the pain and sickness that might come out from my excessive intake of it. This has been my remedy…
I am an adult now, I now know and understand the repercussions of consuming excess sugar, especially as a man, the danger of consuming too much sugar is very high and serious, and as someone who doesn’t want to suffer in the future, i am now being conscious…
I don’t replace sugar with anything in my food, i just make sure to take it responsibly and moderately to prevent any damage that it might cause some day…
In summary, I won’t deny the fact that having no sugar in certain drinks would be the end of those drinks, this is because I can’t take drinks without sugar for too long, who does that, I’d rather stay away from drinks than to take drinks that don’t have sugar…
In conclusion, it will be hard to consume drinks without sugar in them, it’s better to stay away from all kinds of drinks than to consume a sugarless drink, I can’t imagine how much it would affect me, heheh…
