When it comes to MONEY or anything relating to it, I have never for once handled it with ease and levity, this is not only because I don’t joke with money, it is also because i know how deceptive, greedy and manipulative humans can be when it comes to money matters, I am very calculative in any dealings of mine that involves money, which is why till date I have never been a victim of fraud…
Over the years I have heard a lot of fraudulent activities taking place here and there, and whenever I hear of them, it makes me more vigilant about the kind of people I relate with when it comes to money dealings…
I remember how a close friend of mine fell victim to fraud years ago, he was the reason for how things turned out, he refused to listen to me after all my cries and warnings, he refused to pay heed to my warnings and after a short time, he was defrauded of his money, he then came to me crying and all I did was to criticize him more for his disobedience, I didn’t console him for his loss, I guess he learnt his lesson the hard way, and after that bitter experience he became wise…
His case opened my eyes to a lot of things and thanks to this case, I became more aware and vigilant of this type of defrauding act. There is nothing like learning from experience and this is because experience is the best teacher, if he had listened to me, then he might have not fallen victim but thanks to his disobedience, he lost his money to a stranger, he has never forgotten that event till today 😂…
Without wasting too much time on how my friend was defrauded, I will be diving right into what I have for you all today, it is going to be be short and interesting so tag along with me friends…
MY NEAR EXPERIENCE WITH A FRAUDSTER…
As mentioned above, I have never been a victim of fraud, but it doesn’t mean they have never approached me before, I have been approached a couple of times on Facebook but I already knew what they were after, so I decided to ignore them until one day I decided to play along with them to see how crazy they are…
This happened last year December, I was still a constant user of Facebook back then, I was up late chatting with my female bestie 😉 that particular day and around 2am, I got a message from a friend of mine, at first I thought he was my friend from school because this fraud was chatting from his account, unknown to me that my friend’s Facebook account had been hacked and stolen, we chatted for a few days and he was playing along with me until the 5th day when he suggested I joined a thrift organization, a thrift club where I get to take times 2 of my money every Friday…
The moment I got this message, I knew something had gone wrong somewhere, I decided to play along for days and kept on promising him to join soon, in the meantime I had checked with my friend and got to know he had lost his account, this made me smile to myself, that night I sent him the conversation of my friend and I on WhatsApp and he went offline…
I was blocked instantly after that message, I would have reported that account to Facebook authorities if he had not blocked me but guess what? I didn’t fall victim because I was wise enough to know there is no free money even in Freetown…
In summary, he tried but he wasn’t successful, I was able to play him for days, I kept poking him to know more about him but he was wise enough to know I was wise, this particular experience made me realize there are fraudsters everywhere and if you aren’t wise enough, you stand a chance of being defrauded, this encounter made me stay away from Facebook and till now I don’t chat on Facebook anymore because it is the most easy means to be defrauded…
In conclusion, I was not affected personally but i made up my mind to let go of Facebook because of this particular incident, I decided to be more careful on social media platforms, and I also learnt to be extra cautious when it comes to money dealings online, and till today I have never been a victim of fraud because I am always vigilant and watchful…
