What is life without struggles, what is life without challenges, what is life without hardship, what is life without heart breaks, what is life without moment of breakdown, tears and regrets, what is life without lost opportunities, all these little components are what makes up life and that is why life is all about learning new things and utilizing them in different ways to yield positive results...
Life has taught me a lot of lessons, if not the easy way then it was the hard way and that was because of stubbornness and the fact is that all the lessons I have learnt from life are engraved in my heart which means it can never be erased neither can it be forgotten...
I have seen and heard a lot, apart from the life of others, I myself have seen and gone through hell and that to in the last two decades...
Thanks to these challenges and hardships, I have learnt how to improvise on my own and also thanks to the support and words of encouragement from someone close to me, a lot of these challenges and hardships have been faced head on...
I have gotten a lot of word of advice and to be honest all the words of advice I have gotten have really helped me at some point in life but my best word of advice was; WHEN THE JOURNEY GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GETS GOING...
Join me as I take you on a quick journey of my best word of advice, who gave it and how it helped at that point in time...
I DECIDED TO GET BACK ON TOP...
I have always been a constant topper of my school, when I say constant topper I meant I have never gone beyond the 1st position to the 3rd position for any reason in my life and that was because of how I was created, I was created naturally brilliant and reading wasn't my problem but calculations was but as time goes on I developed a trick to help me pass my calculation subjects and that was the beginning of greatness...
I had to move from my old school to my new school where I met naturally gifted kids just like I am back then and at first it felt a bit off and different because I was new to the environment and the first exam in my new school got me the second position and that was when I knew I was in for a tough competition...
I decided to work on myself and the next term was different as I came first in that term which made happy, from one class to the other subjects were getting harder and I was still topping the class until it happened...
I started having troubles with calculation based subjects, I never knew it would really affect me so much and after completing the whole term I got my report card and that was when I came third fur the first time and I almost ran crazy...
I decided to check the first and second position takers report sheet to see where I went wrong and guess what I had below average of what they both scored in all rh calculation based subjects...
It was at this point I started crying and I started thinking of what to tell my parents at home especially my mother, i am sure my fellow nigerians will understand this my story better than anyone else because almost all nigerian mothers are the same, they will be like what were you looking, the child that took first does he have four heads or what and all this with screams and shouts...
I came third and my parents won't be happy, imagine from 1st down to 3rd, that can only mean I have been unserious and this will make my mum insult me for not being able to keep my position...
I cried my eyes out and couldn't go home to meet my mum, I had to go meet my dad in his work place to show him my report card first and while showing him, he asked me why I was crying and I told him I came third in class and he laughed, at first I was like; is this man whinning me??...
He said; so you are crying just because you came third in class 😂😂??...
He then called me and sat me down and explained a lot of things to me AND he further asked me what happened that lead to me coming third in the class, I explained the problem I had to him and he was like hmmmm how have you been doing it before??...
I told him I developed a trick in my junior class and it worked, he then told me to find myself an easier method, one that will make me find all the calculation based subjects easy, he looked at me after saying all that he wanted to say and patted my back, he concluded his speech with; when the journey gets tough the tough gets going, so stand back up and go claim your crown as you always do, hearing that gave me enough courage to face my mum and at the end, he told me to go home and talk to my mum...
Fortunately for me nothing happened after talking to my mum and I was served lunch then I got an earful of advice from her that day but I realized it was time to keep going and that was what I did and the following term turned out differently...
In conclusion, I worked hard on finding an easier formulae for myself and at the end of the day I found it and utilized it to my strength and after then I never lost my crown to any one again and that was because of the word of encouragement my dad gave me and that was what made me the man I am today, a fighter and a strong competitor...
