Hi guys,
Welcome to my blog once again. This week we are fortunate to be in the new year. This is the first Monday of the new year and all we hope and pray for is the goodness of the year.

Christmas has come and gone by fast but in Accra, it still feels like we have the Christmas spirit lurking around. Tomorrow is a working day so am sure things will die down a bit.

For Christians, Christmas doesn’t feel like it’s just on the 25th but extended up until the first or even the second of January. There are still decorations all over and if you go out at night I bet, you will enjoy the lights and all the decorations.
Where I stay, we don’t think Christmas is a big deal because it’s populated with Muslims. On Christmas Day you don’t even feel like it’s Christmas because you hardly even see any decorations and all that. You see only a few people going to church and the rest of us who are Muslims don’t really care.

This time around I was fortunate to spend Christmas in Accra. In Accra, there are a lot of Christians so the Christmas spirit is alive and kicking. So after Christmas yesterday was the new year and we weren’t left out of the fun. We decided to tour Accra at night and see the Christmas lights at night.

The main focus area was Osu. There was a roundabout there that was neatly decorated and a whole lot of people were standing there taking pictures so we decided to join in the fun.

The morning of the new year was a normal day for me as I didn’t do anything special. All I did was sleep wake up, eat, pray and play games. It was in the evening that we had a bit of fun.
So before going to osu we drove around Accra and the sole reason was to check out the Christmas lights. So we passed through a lot of interesting places until we got to our destination. When we got there, there were others there and some people who were in charge of making sure things were fine.

There were parents with kids and all. So we also took the chance to take pictures around. I am not the camera type or should I say I don’t know how to pose for pictures so I really don’t like pictures of myself. But I did try to take a few pictures and I hope you like them.
There was so much stuff which was designed with lights to make them shine. These designs made the place bright and Colorful.
There was a moon and something like a peacock stretching its wings. There were other interesting features which I couldn’t really make out but you will see them.

All these lights and decorations made people passing by the roundabout stop to take a few pictures before proceeding. I must say. It was really interesting and I hope whenever I come back to Accra I will be in the Christmas mood to actually move around and see all these nice places.

This was how I spent my New Year’s Day. I hope we all had fun yesterday.
Thank you for reading.
