Greetings!
This life we are into has its own way of living as people have derived and discovered so many methods through which we can live life and make it worth living for.
One of those methods of living a worthy life is what's brought to us as a topic in the Hive Learners w176e3 contest which is all about gap year. The question is about whether taking a gap year is good or not. So, I would be doing justice with the question from my own perspective.
But before I proceed, I would say that there's nothing in this life that has a good side without having the other side which is the positive side. So, as for taking a gap year maybe in academics or any other achievement in life, i would say there's a good side to it and as well, there's a bad or negative side to it.
Furthermore, I would like to start with the positive side of the coin. Taking a gap year to me is a very good thing being in the academic field or in any other achievement processes as it would help those involved in taking a break from the stress of what they are into and recharged themselves for the task ahead most especially after the gap year.

One thing about life is that there will be time for us to take a rest from whatever we do or are doing. Doing something in a stretch has caused some damage to their mental and bodily health, but had it been they have taken a gap year from what they have been doing all these while, maybe they would have saved themselves from brain drain and be in good shape both mentally and physically for the task ahead.
Also, taking a gap year can be of great advantage for us as humans as it could help us to relax our nerves from the anxieties of what would be our portion in that thing we are currently doing.
In addition, taking a gap year can help us to get ourselves developed in other areas of our lives which the burden of what we are doing before taking a gap year has blocked us from.
Not only that, taking a gap year has given people time to explore new things and new worlds. One thing about taking a gap year is that it will give us more exposure to the new world and make us see things beyond what we have been used to doing which can be so boring without taking the necessary break.
Also, I have seen people acquiring more skills and developing themselves in such skills just because of the opportunity handed to them by the existence of a gap year. In fact, I'm a living example of this fact. Some time ago, while I was still in university, one thing I used to do while on a holiday was to learn a new skill. So when others would have gone home, I would use the opportunity of that break to learn a new skill brought to the campus for us to learn.
So, with the great opportunity of a gap year in form of session or semester break, I was able to learn series of things such as speaking Germans, French and Spanish, aside from learning and developing myself in these, i was also able to learn Data Analysis (Spss) which I'm now using as my means of income. Even what I went to study in school was not what I'm currently using to work but what my gap year in the form of holiday has handed over to me.
However, there's no thing or opportunity in life that has its good side like i have said earlier without its bad side, so, briefly, i would like to share the other side of the coin of a gap year.
Taking a gap year, if care is not taken can make one lose the moment of the time. There's some people that taking a break from that thing they are doing would make them lose zeal and passion for that thing they are doing.
I have a friend like that, even if this guy is eating and someone called him on the phone and he answers the call, he will lose the momentum of continuing eating the food (lolz). This is just an example of how people can get disconnected with what they are doing whenever they take a gap year from it.
Furthermore, gap year can be full of uncertainty as this could make people lose their already made plan and vision for their future. Some may feel relaxed and complacent within the gap year period and they may even find it difficult to come back to what they have been doing over the years through loss of interest.
And lastly, having a gap year can be a waste of time as things that are supposed to have been completed within a specific time on purpose would have been elongated and add more time to the time which was supposed to be used on a particular project, be it academics or otherwise. It can also be costly as the amount to be spent would have been on the increase while away on the gap year.
In. Conclusion, taking a gap year is a welcome development, but one thing is that, as good as it might be, there's another side to it which might be more costly than expected.
This is my entry to the Week 176, Edition 03 in the weekly Featured contest in the Hive Learners community.
