Hello beautiful people of Hive, welcome to my blog š·š
It's been a really beautiful week and coincidentally, been doing a lot of reading which is just what I want to share with you about.
Stick around...you'll sure learn a thing or two.
I have always loved reading since when I could understand the formation of words, since I could look at words and give meaning to them and my parents being so smart bought loads of them for me.
My Dad is a library himself. He has books from over 20 years ago in his library including several editions of the British Encyclopedia and from time to time, I pick them to read: horror, suspense, traditional, and most of all Christian books.
It's a different feeling holding a book in your hand to read, it creates in you a sense of responsibility and focus. Although, with the emergence of e-libraries you can read any book of your choice at the flick of your fingers with great reading apps having different functionalities to make your reading more enjoyable like added dictionaries, highlighters, even options to arrange your text the way you like.
So which do I prefer?
Well, in one instance, it all depends on what I am reading about.
Both reading ebooks and their paperback counterpart have their different perks that's why the question of what I am reading comes into play.
For my Christian books, especially my Bible, I would always choose the hardcopy over the digital. It brings in a heavy sense of originality that I can't explain. But in cases where I am studying and have to compare with several other Bible versions, I switch to the digital.
Also, when I am reading my business or self development books, I also prefer the hardcopy if it's available with me but if not and in the case I want to make a comparison between different writers discussing on a particular subject I'm reading, I move to the e-book..
In another instance, as much as I love holding my hardcover book in my hands and read whether at home or during a long journey in the bus, I would have to go for my e-books for the following reasons..
ā It is always available.

Because of the inflation in the market which also have the caused the price of books to increase, the books I want to read may not be able to get at the moment I need them so I switch to the e-versions. Especially being a student, a lot of textbooks now are very pricey but with e-books, I don't have to spend much money to access them.
ā In addition, many crooks out there have pirated a lot of the books in the market for gain and in the process changed the writings in them therefore making the books in genuine and these pirated ones are now more than the original. The only way to escape this is to get the book from the writer himself which may not be possible most of the time. In this case, an e-copy is preferred.

ā With e-books, I don't have to worry about the electricity situation when I want to read at night, I just go ahead with my device and turn on my battery saver or airplane mode to conserve battery.
With my e-books, I can read anything, anytime, anywhere.
I have fallen in love with e-books but it didn't take away my love for my hardcopies.
Do you feel the same way I do?š or not? I'd love to know š
Till next time...
