Whether we like it or not, the time will come when we will cease to exist. It's a predicament that will happen to all the people with no exception. Our body will slowly rot until it completely perishes while all the riches and achievements will be left behind. That is why we try to live our lives the best that we can but no matter how hard we try, life is short and there will be things that we cannot achieve with the life we have. It may be due to me being caught in an accident, suffered an incurable disease or I just reached an old age but eventually, I finally kicked the bucket.

Apparently, souls exist and my soul begins to wander towards the afterlife where I come to meet the one that claims to be my maker. His face was covered in so much light so I failed to distinguish on which religion he belongs but he comes with an offer for me to be reincarnated. But it's not like those with Isekai Animes where people get to transfer in an alternate world of swords of magic but it was more of a grounded reality where I just born on Earth but I would start again as an infant with a different identity. However, he allowed me to decide the conditions of my reincarnation to some extent.

Retaining the Memories of My Previous Life
Having my memories intact might be a little awkward at first because as an infant, I have the mind of an adult. Just imagine how embarrassing it will be when my new mother gets to breastfeed me or change my diapers because I soiled it because a baby's body is not strong enough to do things on my own. But this would be really helpful later in life because when I start to go to school up until I reach high school, I would spend little to no time on studying because I got my memories of it and I can even improve my grades and as someone who have accumulated years of experience I can use it to not repeat my previous mistakes in life and avoid repeating my past regrets.
Choosing How I Live
Giving the option where to live this time, I decided to remain in the same country from my previous life. Some might argue that I should choose a new and better country where I can explore new things but that also means that I will need to learn their language, culture and laws from scratch which would some time that I could rather spend on the things that I failed to do in my previous life. At the same time, each country has their own issues which might be unknown to us so rather than spending time to find a better country, I would just use the knowledge of my previous life in order to make the country live a better place.
I was also given the choice to choose my family and my gender. I refused the notion of changing my gender because because even though our society have undergone a lot of improvement, there were still part of society that discriminates on people based on race and gender and at the very least, I can avoid being discriminated if I were a man. When it comes to family, rather than choosing a rich and powerful family, I would rather choose to have a middle class family. Indeed, with power and wealth for a second life, everything I want will be in the reach of my hands but at the same time, it might corrupt me as a person that looks down on other people. It would be better to be in a humble middle class family so they can still provide the things that I need but I could value the importance of effort in order to reach my goals and from there, I could just climb my way up to become rich while being able to maintain my character.
What Changes Would I Make?
For what I want to change on myself, it would be based on the regrets that I have during my previous life but since that is yet to come, I can only think of few. First was my dream of becoming an Astronaut which is once a dream that I have but is something that I might never achieved in this life. With all the advantages that I have, keeping my past memories, I could focus my time in studying Astronomy and apply for an overseas scholarship in order to be employed on an organization that could take me to space. With my love of music, I also once aspire to be the guitarist of a band but I think I was to old to be on a band right now so it would be one of my goal when I was reincarnated. Aside from that, maybe I would travel more and visit many place in my next life which I haven't done for a long time now due to Covid and my busy schedule.
We only lived once and no matter how we live, we would still left with regrets as we reach the end of it. A second life can be promising specially if we could keep our previous memories and can make a choice on how to we start our next life to make our next life more easier and to be able to clear our past regrets.
