New Year is the one holiday where we celebrate the completion of the Earth's revolution around the sun as it also closes the end of the year, welcoming the dawn of a new one. It is an event that is celebrated all around the world, regardless of one's religion, race or political views and each part of the world have their own traditions on how to celebrate this annual event which they inherit from their predecessors and continue to do regardless of whether they made sense or not. My family was actually guilty of such as we collect 12 types of round fruits and display coins on different parts of the house to welcome the New Year as some of the things we do which I wrote on my hl-w9e2 Post on the belief that it would bring wealth and prosperity to the family even if it may not have any effect but it was a fun tradition to uphold so why not? At the very least, it has the sentiment for a better year unlike this one tradition that I observed "children and some adults in my country do which is to jump when the clock reaches 12:00 A.M.".
During the New Year's Eve, most people, young and old would stay awake waiting for until the clock says its 12:00 o'clock in the morning as it signifies that another New Year has started. For the richer folks, they would buy fireworks and light them up while the majority will find ways to make some noise either by blowing trumpets or playing their home speakers on max volume and for the young one's, it was also the time where they will jump as much as they can. Are they doing it because they celebrate the holidays? Maybe but most of them are more likely doing this because their parents told them that they will grow taller if they do and even some adults that are lacking in height would do hoping that it will help them grow taller.

How are their actions related to the New Year celebration? They don't. Does this tradition really help people grow taller. Most likely not. At the very least, I don't see any adults that jumps every New Year to grow any taller visually. When it comes to the children, of course they will grow until they reach teenage years regardless of whether they jump or not and it will depend on the child's genetic combination that will tell how much he can grow along with the right amount of rest and nutrition.
I know this for a fact because never once in my life did I jump during the New Year even when I was young but my height right now was around 5'7 which is higher by the 5'4 average height of Filipino men and the way I am now was probably because I inherit it from my dad who was probably have the same height if not taller rather than my mon who was only at my shoulder's height. At the same time, if you look at the other parts of the world, even when they do not have the same tradition of jumping in the New Year, there are still lots of people that are very tall, even surpassing 6 or 7 feet just like those that we see on NBA matches. So this tradition has really no relation to the celebration or any point since it just don't work. Despite that, I know that I will once again see people to jump this New Year and that will be fine for me because even if what they are doing has no point at all and has no any relation with the New Year celebration, they are not hurting anyone and they are still celebrating the New Year brimming with positivity.
And that was one pointless tradition I observed in my neighborhood and my country. I am not familiar with a lot of holiday traditions so I cannot rule out that it was only done in my country. Its been quite a busy time for me so I'm not quite sure if I can participate in the topics for the remaining days of the year so before I lose my opportunity, I want to say,
That was all from me and if you got curious on my other Christmas recommendations, you can take a look at them below. Thank you and see you at the next one.
