Hive Learners community has finally reached 5k subscribers. They are having a cover design contest with 100 Hive Prize Pool being given away to the top 7 designs! I'm glad to be part of that 5k and looking forward to the next milestone of 10k subscribers. In this post, I will be sharing my cover design and the steps I took to make it along with my thoughts. I am using Canva as I don't have the actual artistic talent to draw the design.
The Process & My Thoughts
Step 1
I had to look for an image that fits 1920x245. I wanted to use an image that had something related to learning. I thought about it and went with books so I found a photo with books from unsplash.
Step 2
I needed to made the image a bit transparent and set it to 75 and I also added the Hive Learners logo on the bottom left. The image was a bit dark so making it transparent a bit would help make things easier to see when adding other stuff onto the image.
Step 3
I wanted to add two quotes to this cover so I looked for some quotes that had to do with learning that I thought were motivating and fits Hive Learners. The first quote was the only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing. The other quote I liked was never stop learning because life never stops teaching.
Step 4
The quotes were hard to see at first so I had to give it some color. I chose colors that were similar to the Hive Learners logo so the top left one I chose to be blue and gave a black outline and the bottom right quote to be in red with a black outline. The black outline was to help the words be easier to see and stand out more.
Step 5
I was thinking what else could I add to this image. Then it came to me. I wanted to be able to include something related to the world and all different types of people because I think Hive Learners is international and there's people from all over the world so I found an image from Canva with a globe and all different kinds of people.
Step 6
I added an outline to the Hive Learners logo so it would stand out a bit more. Then to the left of the globe image, I thought to myself what were some things that we need to do to be successful in Hive Learners and just Hive in general. The pencil represents writing quality content which is what members of Hive Learners should always be aiming to do. The second image is engaging by commenting and upvoting fellow community members. Lastly, it's about building that friendship, bonding and enjoying the Hive journey together.
Step 7
Lastly, I decided to add some images that are related to Hive Learners that only those that are actually in our community would understand. The days of the week represent the weekly editions and creative Sunday contests. The picture of the call is to represent the community hangouts that LAZY DJ hosts every week which I usually can't attend since it's like 2am for me. Lastly, there is a dice with the number six shown which is kind of like a mini-game for those that participate in the hangouts where we vote for the weekly topics.
Thank You
Well that's all from me. I hope I had a creative cover design for this contest. Thanks for reading and feel free to leave comments on what you think. This contest is open to everyone so don't be afraid to give it a shot and participate! Of course I am also giving consent for Hive Learners to use this design cover officially if they choose to! Have a great weekend!
