Don't be a cheetah is just a pun. What I actually mean is don't be a cheater. Nobody likes people that cheat and this could be many things not including relationships. Today I want to share my thoughts on this topic.
Why Do People Cheat?
I think the big question that needs to be answered is why do people cheat. In my opinion, it can be due to many things like unhappiness, temptation, pressure, etc. Although this is the case, I think it can be narrowed down to two main things. One of the main reasons is probably due to unhappiness and the second is that it's an easy way out. The unhappiness is more towards the relationship side of cheating. The unhappiness could be due to a partner not being able to satisfy the needs of a relationship. Maybe there is a lack of affection or there is not enough efforts put in from one partner. This could cause the other partner to cheat as they are not receiving everything that they want in a relationship. It's still possible even if the partner is happy and you are providing the partner all their needs in a relationship that they will still cheat but I find this highly unlikely.
As for the easy way out, this is not so easy to explain but I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. People are lazy and well if you had to choose whether to study or cheat and know you won't get caught; I think a person would choose to cheat. Another example that is more innocent is sometimes we make goals like I'll work out everyday or I'll go on a diet but then you know we cheat what we said. We will skip a day or we will go eat that nice dessert because it's easier to do than to not. I guess we could also say this is slightly due to temptation. Even though this example is a bit harmless I think it applies and makes sense to being an easy way out. Another example is where people can get an honest job and work but there's people out there that decide to cheat people through scams because you can make more money with less efforts at least for those that weren't forced into this type of job.
What Do I Think Of Cheating
In terms of relationships, I think cheating is wrong. Whether adult or still in the teens, I think when you decide to start a relationship with someone, you should be faithful unless it was already agreed upon that it would be an open relationship. If there's no more feelings, then I think the mature thing to do would be to inform the other and tell them that you aren't interested in them anymore. This is way better than having the person that gets cheated on find out. They will be hurt even more I feel by beating cheated than breaking up because you already lost your interest.
In terms of other things, it really depends. If it's small things like cheating your own goals of going to gym or dieting, I think this is harmless and there's nothing wrong with it. Personally, I can attest to cheating some of the things I told myself I would do but then I ended up not doing it.
As for the bigger things, like cheating on exams, assignments, people, then this is a bigger issue. When a person cheat on an exam, they are getting a score they don't deserve. There's even situations where an opportunity will be taken away from another person and that is just wrong. As for assignments, this is wrong as well even though I can admit that I did cheat before in homework when I was in elementary to high school. I don't think I'm alone here. At least those that had access to the internet, I'm pretty sure we all had at one point try to put some of the questions in the homework on google to find the answers; I don't think it's just me that has done this. On the point of cheating on people, this could mean scamming them or cheating their feelings. Scamming people is always wrong. I don't see a world where it's ok unless you're scamming a scammer to get back the money. I think cheating feelings is wrong; you shouldn't lead someone on and pay for dates if you are interested in them but you know they are interested in you. You're wasting their time and taking advantage of them.
To be honest, I could go on forever on this topic but I feel like I've explained my stance and gave my thoughts along with examples of the harmless cheating to being a total cheetah (cheater).
Thank you so much for reading. I had fun writing this topic. Perhaps an answer sheet to an exam has fallen into your hands and nobody knows. Would you cheat or would you give this to the lecturer/teacher? What are your thoughts on cheating? Feel free to leave it down in the comments below.
