There's a song we use to sing back then, which goes thus; rain rain go away come again another day little children wants to play. Whenever there is rain, this is what we sing, we'll be inside the rain playing like there's no tomorrow lols... childhood was fun, sometimes I wish I can go back to enjoy the things I use to flex that time. Now we're adults such thing can't happen again, the story has changed alot, as I don't even like the rain touching me whenever am outside except am on the pitch playing football, who would think the same child that's usually happy when it's raining so he can go out with his friends to play is now a changed man, to the extent of running away from slightest appearance of rain.
It's so funny now remembering the good old days, my mom is against such things so I can only do that if she's not around or if where we are before the rain start is far from home. So I just join my friends to play but I know going home with wet clothes would attract punishment or cane. My mom will not even support me going out to play football with my friends talkless of playing inside the rain. By the way, I don't know what football did to our African mothers, most of them don't like seeing their young children playing that game.
Moving forward to my experience when I got stuck under a heavy downpour... firstly, I love football and I do go out to play virtually every evening, I only skip field when am very busy, and now that we're in rainy season I come home wet most times, because whenever we are on the pitch and there's a downpour we'll continue if it's not too much than what we can bear but if it's becoming too much we leave the pitch.
But this very one I'll be sharing is one I'll say it's outstanding of them all.
I went to field just like every other time, but surprisingly the rain started without proper notification lols... i.e without blowing breeze or change of weather, the match was getting very instresting so we decided to continue playing, but it got to a time we couldn't continue as the rain was getting more intense, so everyone has to dispatch, on my way running back home the rain was too heavy that I was so wet I had to stop by at a friend's house to continue my journey when the rain stops.
Anytime I remember this day, am always happy I stop by at my friends house that very day, we both went to the field actually and he was that one that insisted I stay back till the rain stops. Getting there, he prepared a hot tea and as if he knew there will be downpour, everything was just on point, luckily he also had bread and egg at home. Lets just say I had a nice treat that faithful day. Fortunately for me the food was just right in time, as I was so tired as I was thinking of what to cook when I get home but to my greatest surprise I was served one of my favorite.
I really had a good time with my football partner, we had a precious time gisting, talking about how to make more money lols, the normal guys talk.
This is a little story about the last time I got stuck in a heavy downpour. I hope you find it interesting.
