Freedom can simply be defined as the state of being free. Like being able to walk, talk, eat etc freely without restrictions.
For example, as a citizen of a particular country we have fundamental human rights such as right to freedom of expression, right to personal liberty, freedom of thought, religion, right to life etc...
Despite all this fundamental human rights everything must still be done in modesty. Because you're free to express yourself that doesn't mean you're free to talk to people anyhow and in any manner or because you have the right to choose your religion, you now start to inconvenience other people while practicing it. It's not totally uncalled-for. I think too much of anything at all is bad.
What are the possible effects of excess freedom
Of course it's very possible for someone to be too free, maybe because there are no laws guiding such person or people, or when there's no proper monitoring, the end result might be a very big disaster.
Below are just two of the various effects of being too free.
- It can lead to waywardness of a child: Imagine a child whose parent didn't bother about his/her well-being, no proper monitoring, when a parent is less concerned maybe the child is okay or not, the child having no one to correct him/her after doing something wrong, atimes the child might be doing the wrong thing unknowingly but since there's no one to caution and control, the bad act continues.
Unlike me that experienced full monitoring, I can remember when I was still small, to go out to play ball with my other friends after school is very hard because mom will not even want to hear it. She would always tell me to go inside and read my books, it's only when I find excess favour in her eyes that she would allow me to go out and play, or when she's not around.
Whereas I have a friend whose parents won't even bother about his whereabouts, back then I do envy them and wish my parent could also be so free with me but little did I know that they were indirectly destroying the life of the boy. Am not happy about what that leads to, but now the same boy is now into many bad things from one criminal case to the other.
Anyways this is not also a total excuse for being wayward, it also depends on the child, but leaving the child to excess freedom is likely to damage him or her.
- I'll relate the second effect to that of a country or society without rules: Lets also Imagine that our respective countries are now without rules guiding them, you know what that means? well I understand that we have some good people that will make good use of the freedom but when the bad ones will start inflicting problem on the good ones, they will probably become bad one day too. Many will use this opportunity to start stealing, do so many evil acts and get away with it so freely. Even with the rules and restrictions now, some evil people still get away with crimes how bad will it be if everyone is so free.
Above all, I believe everything we do should be done in moderation, we shouldn't take whatever level of freedom we're experiencing for granted, being so free to do anything we like does not mean we should misuse the opportunity but make the best use of it.
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY.
