THE MACROCHIP ON JEFF'S BRAIN

At sharp 6:30 Am, the alarm clock on the table emitted a loud buzzing, he woke up very quickly but was still groggy. His phone was very close to His pillow, so he had no trouble reaching for it. "Aah! It's already 6:30 AM" he muttered, Slowly dragging himself up from the bed. The morning light slighted through the window, welcoming him to a new day. He slowly walked close to a water tap near his bathroom where he washed his face. There was a long mirror on the wall close to the tap. He turned to the mirror, his gaze settling upon the contours of his own reflection. It was **Jeff** my friend. He smiled to the reflection of his handsome face from the mirror and slowly walk back to his bed room.

Jeff and I have maintain a close friendship since our early days. He was my real buddy! We loved playing soccer games {PS}together. His mum was also close to my family, or should I say was my family friend. So the relationship between Jeff and I was beyond just mere friendship. Jeff possessed some unigue qualities. Despite his untold qualities, Jeff was ensnared by persistent alcohol and drugs.

At 8:15 AM, My phone buzzed Loudly, I slid my hand to the pocket to grab it; It was Jeff. I ignored the call and dropped the phone back to my pocket. He kept calling for umpteen times, but I didn't bother to take the calls. Jeff and I had a disagreement the previous night, A very serious one. I needed to stay away from him for a while. My phone kept on buzzing like It was never going to stop. This time, I decided to take the call. Surprisingly, it wasn't Jeff again, it was his mum.

I paused, wondering why her call. could Jeff have revealed our conflict, spurring her to mediate? I smiled and took the call.

GOD PLEASE!! A woman screaming from the other side of the call. It was Jeff mum. She called Ekpez!! Your friend have had an accident on his way to work, Please can you come very quickly to the hospital? I was already too weak at the report. I called her back, asking for the name of the hospital. I quickly dressed up and left to see him.

On arriving at the hospital, I requested to see him. The doctors were so much with protocols, they declined my request; "sir please, you will wait outside or better you can manage the waiting room, for now his condition is critical and is not professional to let you in". I Understood that. I slowly shifted to the waiting room. My mind was heavy as my heart kept pounding, withholding the water from running down my chick with difficulty.

I spent more than 4 hours there waiting to see the doctor. It appeared to be that he was so busy. Hunger left me, there was no taste for water. Immediate I saw the doctor coming, I stood to my feet. " where is his mother ?" He asked, "OOh! "She.. she left, just went home to prepare something to eat for her kids". I continued; "But you can talk to me, am like a brother". " No! this case need someone more than just friend,. can we reach the mother immediately and ask her to come over", He said. "Very well", I replied.

I was about calling Jeff's mum but she Just walked in. "ooh! she arrives". The doctor invited her to his office , after 30 minutes, I saw her coming out with tears running down her eyes. I quickly knew something must have gone really bad. The accident had affect his brains, He might be having difficult times recalling memories and performing some activities. the doctor suggest that Implanting a microchip in his brain would help him heal a lot faster and becomes even more smarter.

The mother, being so much worried accepted this suggestion, and hurriedly paid for the cost of the surgery. After few weeks, Jeff was discharge from the hospital. And I went to visit him, Jeff spoke very well, But his looks were so different. It took Jeff time to remember me, but he did. His communication changed, I observes so many changes from Jeff, But I understood He was now living in a whole different world and a different life. He however, was looking smart. but this was a different Jeff. This required him to visit the hospital time to time. This was indeed a different life.

Life offer to us both pain and pleasure. When it reaches a state in life where we no longer have many choices, we choose what is placed before us. At the moment, I can't tell if this is worth having, and can't also discourage anyone from getting a chip in his brains, but from my observations, It really has some benefits. However, the later effect of this could be a story.
