Once again, I am very happy to be among the lucky ones selected for this programme and I am already attesting to the benefits starting from our first tutorial on setting Smart Goals.
Goal Setting is one aspect of life I always avoid as big as possible..... Nah, don't get me wrong
It's not that I don't have targets in life that I want to achieve, it's just that I always like to run at my pace and I will always feel bad setting goals without achieving them.
Guess what?
I had all those fears because I was yet to understand the concept of application of SMART in setting my goals.
So here I am setting my goals for the next two months of this Newbies initiative.
WHAT IS GOAL SETTING TO YOU?
Goal setting in my own understanding entails a travel to your future self.
It is a thing of the future but I'll always say that what we have is now (the present) to make the future a better one.
Setting goals involves as we were taught in the tutorial making realistic targets that are meant to motivate us and set path for us to tread on for a particular period of time.
Setting Goals is bringing the future a little closer...
This is because not setting goals doesn't actually means we might not reach the point we want to attain but rather setting goals makes it possible to achieve those goals closer than we expected.
WHY DO YOU NEED TO SET SMART GOALS?
SMART Goals bring out the best in you.
When you set these goals, you literally live your life bearing in mind you have a target to reach..... It keeps ringing in your head.
Let's just say setting SMART Goals makes you reach the apex you never saw yourself before.... The climax of your own self you see in dreams to reality is brought right there before you when you set your goals SMART.
It is important to note that we may or may not attain all our goals but the good aspect of setting goals is that at the end, it makes us better than we were before working with those goals in mind.
No wonder Steve Garvey will always say,
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS......
- For My Hive Power:
Knowing how important it is to have a reasonable figure in our HP and also just like the tutor @starstrings01 said, "HP gives you power in the community",
It is my aspiration to be an indispensable user in hive Community and as such,
I will like to be in the league of users with 800HP by the end of this two months initiative which will be possible only by consistently making 3 quality posts every week, curating other authors and engaging in other authors' post to gain visibility in the platform.
- For My Followers:
My goal is to have 170 followers by the end of the two months initiative to boost my visibility on the hive community which I plan on achieving by consistently engaging with other authors and publishing quality posts amongst Community contest posts and prompts.
- For My Engagement:
My goal is to hit a 10,000 figure (I currently have 5374 figure) in my Engagement count by the end of this two months initiative which will be possible when I voraciously read and leave reasonable comments on the posts of other authors. This will help me to invariably have more engagement with my own posts
- For My Consistency:
My goals is to make at least a total of 24 quality posts for this two months initiative which will be possible by making a minimum of 3 quality posts every week. This will help me build my account in all rounds and give my visitors something to work on whenever they come to my blog.
- For My Reputation:
Reputation is a pointer of excellence to me
This is because it increases with Upvotes alone and for you to be increasing in Upvotes clearly means that people love what you are doing.
I will like to reach the reputation of 64 by the end of this two months initiative which will be possible when I make quality and quantity (big number of) posts (all the tasks and few random posts) and engage with other authors to gain more visibility for better Upvotes whenever I post.
ANALYZE THE GOALS ABOVE, WHAT MAKES THEM SMART GOALS?
If the goals aren't in line with SMART , then it means I didn't even understand whatever I have read and was thought, hehehe.
For all the goals above for the various aspects of my growth in the platform, there you can see;
The Specificity:
At all points, I made sure I gave a definite figure of what my goals are.
The Measurability:
At all points, I made sure I gave an outline of how exactly I intend going about achieving these goals.
This makes them goals and not baseless dreams.
The Attainability:
I believe in the statement, Impossible is nothing.
For whatever task you channel your mind to, you will definitely achieve that very task, all it takes is commitment and dedication and you will see yourself there which are clearly outlined in the goals I gave.
The Relevance:
I always made sure I gave a clear picture of how important reaching these goals are to me.
The Time Bound :
All my goals above clearly has a time frame attached to it.
Having said all these after my analysis, I believe my goals followed the SMART rule of setting Goals.
WHAT STRATEGIES DO YOU WANT TO PUT IN PLACE TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS?
Indeed, they will be mere dreams when you lay down goals without strategies good enough to actualise them (although I think the measurable part of the SMART did a little justice to that anyway)
- For The Hive Power:
The figure I wish to actualise in this two months initiative is 294HP.
That breaks it down to a HP value of 147HP value per month and subsequently to a HP value of 36.75HP per week....
It's a realistic figure isn't it?
I know the answer is yes, so yes, I will give it chase and hopefully I'll get itπ.
- For The Followers:
Honestly, this is the scary part of my goals but then, nothing is impossible I believe.
Why I am scared is that just like I asked while the teaching was going on, no matter how quality your posts are, you are never on the other end to click the follow button.
Regardless of the constraints, I will see what the future holds as I play my part well in this 2months initiative by engaging well in other authors' posts.
- For The Engagement:
I will be dedicating 2hours of my time reading and leaving comments in other authors'posts, it's not big but I believe it is still better than doing nothing at all.
Zig Ziglar will always say,
Many authors love seeing their comment section filled up with comments from other authors (myself inclusive) and this is why I will be doing this, hopefully, I get them also in my own posts.
Let's see what we can achieve with that consistency, hehehe.
- For The Consistency:
I intend setting an alarm everyday I wake up after seeing the day's schedule on when I'll be doing activities relating to hive, I believe that will be a perfect reminder of what I have to do.
Hopefully I won't keep snoozing the alarm π, nah, I was joking π
- For The Reputation:
Well, just like my HP strategies, I intend making quality posts every week.... They're not guarantee that I must get good Upvotes but atleast it takes me a step further to getting one.
I would also love to use this opportunity to thank @starstrings01, @theycallmedan, @aliento team and to everyone who is making sure this initiative becomes success.
Thanks to you allπ
I won't also fail to thank my team leader @justfavour for always been there for me to answer all my questions, I appreciate your time.
I won't even forgive myself if I fail to thank my first mentors here on Hive @kenechukwu97, @nkemakonam89, and then my mentor extraordanaire @merit.ahama
May God bless you allπ
Don't misunderstand me oh... It's not me relieving you of these duties, it's just me thanking you for where we are in learning now before someone will give me a convocation gown π
Finally I would be lying if I say these goals don't scare me but then, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf will always say that,
Thanks for reading through π
