In last few weeks I noticed my nephews keeps littering chips and chocolate plastic wrappers all over the courtyard. On asking them to pick and throw them in dustbin they did not listen. They are unaware that such littering of waste plastic may cause serious issue. Last year, one of villagers calf died on eating some throw away plastic. The pollution that we create has multiple effect all round the economy system. But our unawareness of the negative effects seriously creating a lot of issus.

Pollution presents a major global challenge due to its widespread impacts on human health, the environment, and the economy, leading to premature deaths, ecosystem damage, and economic losses. Air pollution alone is estimated to cause millions of premature deaths annually, with a significant portion attributed to respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. Pollution contributes to a wide range of diseases, including asthma, strokes, heart attacks, and even certain cancers. Loking atbthe vast impact, It is important to take control to be safe from devastating effect. And the control needs to begin from the grass root level.
I remember, we used to have syllabus innour junior classes teachingbus about the various major impacts of pollution. We knew them since very early days. But looking at my nephew reaction, I doubt if such syllabus still exists or not. He seems to be completelly unaware about the pollution. Such unawareness is a serious threat to our well being.
Many people are unaware of the extent and severity of pollution problems, including air, water, and plastic pollution, and the link between their daily actions and environmental harm. When people are unaware of the harm caused by pollution, it becomes harder to hold polluters accountable for their actions or to support policies that address these issues. In my case, my nephew was unaware of the side effects of such plastic pollution. Like him many people may not be aware of the long-term impacts of plastic waste, including the harm to wildlife and ecosystems, leading to continued plastic consumption and improper disposal. Lack of such unawareness have following negative consequences :
Lack of awareness fuels the continued production and consumption of polluting products and practices.
Unawareness contributes to the degradation of natural resources and ecosystems.
Pollution can cause various health problems, and unawareness can lead to increased exposure to these pollutants.
Pollution can lead to economic costs associated with cleanup, healthcare, and lost productivity.
Looking at the severe pollution impact for the future, it is important to raise awareness as much as possible. Raising public awareness about pollution issues through educational programs, public service announcements, and community outreach initiatives can help people understand the problem and its consequences. Encouraging sustainable consumption and production patterns, such as reducing waste, using renewable energy, and choosing eco-friendly products, can help to reduce pollution. Governments and regulatory bodies can play a crucial role in enforcing environmental regulations and holding polluters accountable for their actions.
I have talked to few of the people in my village about the rising pollution but they seems to depend upon the local authorities. They forget that the safety begins from home and we all are accountable for the rising threat. But seems it will take more losses before people seriously begin thinking about these.
