It is a normal human tendency that, the moment mindful people realize that somethings is harmful or affecting their body in negative way, they start distancing themselves from it. I agree there are certain addiction that many people find it hard to get over like of alcohol and tobacco consumption. But from our day to day, we have already distanced ourself from many food items for our better tomorrow. Like in my case, I have considerably reduce my Sugar intake in last few years. Looking at my Dad and also considering I was gaining Weight. I almost stopped myself from excess sugar item. Being an Indian, we cannot keep away long from sugar items and recipes.

Sugar has been an important part of Indian culture and tradition for a long time, used for ceremonial and royal purposes. India has had a long and rich tradition of sweets or 'mithais' and they have an eternal significance in Indian culture. Sweets signify happiness, celebration, good omen, & prosperity. No festival, ceremony, or occasion can be complete without Indian sweets. It get unavoidable to get rid of sugar completelly from our life.
Some say that sugar is addictive, releasing dopamine and opioids in the body. Symptoms of sugar addiction include anxiety, mood swings, jitteriness, and cold sweats. Others say that the attraction to sweetness is genetic, and that it's a way for the body to quickly assess calorie content and seek out energy. Eating too much sugar can have serious health effects, including:
Short-term effects: Weight gain, acne, tiredness, mood swings, irritability, and cravings.
Long-term effects: Increased risk of chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and other health issues.
Other health effects of eating too much sugar include, Depression, Bad skin, Skin sagging and wrinkles, Cavity formation, Metabolic disorders, and Cognitive impairment.

Alternate to Sugar
After, trying few things, I have shifted my taste towards Jaggery. Jaggery is sometimes called a "superfood sweetener" because it has more nutrients than refined sugar and can be a healthier alternative. Jaggery is made from boiling sugar cane or date palm juice until it forms blocks or cones. It contains minerals like iron, magnesium, and potassium that are often lost during the refining process of other sugars. Jaggery is also a good source of antioxidants, which may help reduce the risk of certain cancers, dementia, and macular degeneration.
