“Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves come when life seems most challenging.” — Joseph Campbell
Life is a struggle and each of the instances leave a deep impact in our life. No matter whatsoever background we belongs to, life teaches us many important lesson at different phases. Each of the lesson make people more stronger and prepare them for another round of struggle. It is important for every person to keep evaluating their progress from time to time to know where they stands and where they are heading to. I think during the month of December, many people are in a habit of making resolutions. Most of us want to move forward and have a desire to progress. They resolve to do better in new years with many promises in line. Taking steps to improve ourself, or grow in life is one of the best investments we can make. But do we ever evaluate where are the resolution stands or have we achieved our growth?
Looking back....
... my life has taken many ups and downs since last resolution. It is no way similar to what it was in last December. My biggest loss was my Dad whom I lost in April. So my resolution to celebrate more years with my Dad failed miserably. But it was not in my hand. I did all failed attempt to make it possible, but finally he gave up. As I said, every instances teaches a new lesson and this loss taught me to be stronger. For me, life used to carefree and different untill, I have my parents in life, but the moment my Dad leave us, I find myself standing neck deep in water in big ocean. The event does made me to get stronger in life and brought some added sense of responsibility in life. No more carefree approach and everything needs tonjudged and calculated before taking next steps.
My overall growth
On my personal front, I could not achieved to grow more except bringing certain changes in my lifestyle. The majority of successful people have created a vision of aspirations they wish to achieve. And I was not different. Personal development does not happen overnight. Looking back I see
I managed to cut down on my tea intake. It was on my to do list. I used to take tea a lot but for the last year, I made it very less and now I hardly needed one. Unless and untill I go out or needed it to eat some snacks. Less tea means less sugar intake which further adds on to good health
I managed to keep up with my walking routine on daily basis. Physical fitness is important and I realized how it benefitted me when I managed to cover 22km trek at Kedarnath successfully on my foot.
Wheneve r we wanted to bring changes in ourself, it requires good amount of adjustments within our thought processes and actions. But once we make the commitment to bring changes in the lifestyle, we will experience increased positivity and motivation. As certain major events already gone through, I find my self to be more responsible and stronger then before. Presence of my Dad allowed me to be in my comfort zone. His departure allows me to step out of our comfort zone. It was very uncomfortable in beginning. That feeling of fear and self-doubts on ourself are natural reactions. But my Dad always taught me that,
When we start something new and step into the unknown world, there are bound times when we feel scared.
He already made me to fight hard and I am still fighting to grow more and mould to be a better human being. But the journey seems to be very long and it will take time and I am confident, gradually it will achieved.
