As curators of the Topcomment curation service we think that high quality comments and engagement are very important for a web 3.0 social media platform like Hive.
From the start of Topcomment back in December 2024 until now we've been trying to increase our stake so we could support more authors of quality comments and do this with higher rewards.
Our curation service has gained recognition through upvoting comments, the weekly reports, and some microblogging. At the moment we have a total of 44 Hivers that support our service with delegations. This results in a total delegated stake of more than 20,000 HP. And this gives us the following upvote at 100% Hive Power (which we usually give for comment):
And although this is already wonderful, we do believe that quality comments deserver more than that. Especially when you compare it with the rewards of blogposts.
How cool would it be if we managed to increase the stake of the Topcomment Curation service so that we could upvote comments with $1,00 votes? I have made it my goal to try and achieve that before the end of 2025.
And to achieve that we need you for this! And there are a couple of reasons why you should consider delegating HP to Topcomment.
1. Supporting engagement
As I mentioned earlier in this blog, the Topcomment curation service supports engagement on Hive. We rewards those who comment on the blogs. And who doesn't want to receive an engaging comment on their blogs? How sad is it when you have put a lot of effort in your blog, that nobody comments on it? By supporting Topcomment you support engagement on Hive.
2. Stimulating interactions
When you support Topcomment you will automatically stimulate interactions on Hive. Although I personally think it is not the best incentive, a financial motivation does often stimulate people to leave more comments. I think one of the main reasons why you see a lot of comments on posts by large stakeholders is that they often upvote comments. But not everyone has the stake to upvote comments, or not enough to give an upvote that results in a payout (as you might know rewards under $0,02 will not be paid out). By upvoting comment under any blog that is being published, interactions between users are stimulated. And your delegation to Topcomment helps.
3. Improving user retention
Following up on the above, more interactions between users (and especially new users) would really benefit the user retention in our eyes. Because comments on new users also could get upvoted people might be more interested in commenting on these blogs. This will make it easier for new users to grow their network and they might feel more seen. I think that the absence of comments can be a reason for people to leave Hive. We can prevent this when we incentivize people to keep commenting, even on blogs from newbies.
4. Receiving returns on delegations
There is also a financial incentive to support us. Topcomment returns 80% of the curation rewards of your delegation. We use your delegated HP stake to upvote comments and you automatically receive 80% of that in return in the form of liquid Hive on a daily basis.
So if your Hive Power is often at 100%, delegating a part of your HP might even be financially attractive as well since we're actively using our Voting Power (just check out our weekly #topcommentreport).
5. Small amounts count!
No, you don't have to delegate a lot of HP. You choose the amount you can miss. The current delegations range from 10 HP up to 3000 HP. Small amounts also add up in the end and will eventually result in a big total amount of Hive Power that counts.

We have made supporting Topcomment easy with the following preconfigured delegations. The following links bring you to a Hivesigner page on which you only have to approve.
