Crime is the illegal behavior of people. Crime can scale from school fight to sexual and homicide.
Directing it to the topic at hand, we will be talking about how youths are the major accomplices to this.
Hello good day and welcome to my little cubicle in this big community. Today as I said in the introduction, we will be talking about some of the crimes youths tend to get themselves involved in. Quick question, why do you think they do what they do?
could it be peer pressure, depression, wrong home up bringing etc? Well I don't know but I guess we are about to find out.

Youth Crime
A lot of youths these days find themselves committing crimes for various reasons known to them. From peer pressure to just the basic need to survive... What are your thoughts on this? Why do you think crime among the youths has been on the increase? And what ways do you think they can be stopped?
Youth Crime using my country for instance is increasingly growing and the funniest thing there is that they now feel proud doing most making it feel somewhat legal.
Youth crime involves but are not limited to:-
- Robbery
- Cyber crime
- Vandalism
- Drug and Alcohol abuse.
- Sexual Assaults
- Murder
- Kidnapping
All these listed above and more are the crimes youths tend to get them selves involved in. Majorly, as I always say, everyone has choices and is responsible for the choices they make. We are going to be looking at some of the reasons why they do the things they do. Mind you, this is not an excuse for them but for us that will soon have kids later in the future or those that already have, with this causes, we should be able to prevent it and bring them up rightly making them know the difference.

- Politics:-
The ones that suppose to help us, seeks our downfall. Politics has always seem to be one of the leading factor in promoting crimes. These politicians seek young individuals to their dirty work for them. Majorly during or before elections, the opposition party might hire thugs to disrupt the affairs of the country or a state as a means to look for opportunity to tackle the person in power. Similar thing happen here in my country some years back and till now, we haven't cubed the situation.
So guys politics is a major cause. But why are the youths also taking up their offer, don't they know the risks involved?
of course, they should know but why still take it up?
Well most likely because of
- Poverty and Unemployment:-
The two are what drives citizens to do the unthinkable things. According to premiumtimes, the rate of poverty in Nigeria is currently at 42.6% and it's expected to increase and keep on increasing. Since no one wants to remain poor, well they end up been involved in a lifestyle that can get them cash. The rich keeps getting richer while the poor remains poor or gets poorer because the poor are still falling slaves to the rich.
- Peer Pressure:-
The fact that people look up to their peers for advice is what baffles me. How the hell will I compare myself with someone that's also just growing. If it's the case that the person has achieved more than I have and I am trying to do it also, it might make me ask for assistance. Looking at myself joining hive, I was influenced by @starstrings01 and @k-banti assuming hive was illegal, my upbringing will let me know that I should stay off.
Another thing that baffles me is that why can't they pick their model from the good ones?
Peer Pressure can lead to vices like alcohol consumption, taking of hard drugs and other illegal activities that in time ruins their lives.
- Use of Hard drugs:-
From peer pressure, most youths get involved in the use of hard drugs which is illegal. The funniest thing is that they see no harm in it and they derive pride from it as they take pictures, make videos while using and even post them on social media. When addicted to the use and funds are no longer available to carter for the drugs, they end up in one or more crime.
- Religion:-
This is a very important matter that in the 21st century after human beings have advanced so much in other areas. There are crimes still being committed by religious fanatics trying to further their cause by promote their religion or at times try to establish their religious superiority over other faiths by resorting to destruction and vandalism. In a post I made recently, I talked about tribe’s committing sacrifices and such sacrifices require human blood which is also a crime.
- Homicide or Murder:-
This is the height of it all. Taking someone elses' life is another level of it's own yet youths of our time don.t see it as anything. The ir hearts as hard as stone has made them do whatsoever it takes to acquire that quick rich place. But what they should know it that it can't ever end well for them. Even soldiers of war that goes out to do good still come back and have PTSD.
There are still alot of crimes the youths of this generation engage in but let's look into some ways we can help reduce these crimes.
- The home places a very vital part in this. Most of us are not into crime because of our home bringing which helped in carving our life style. A bird is looked after for a while and when it is fully trained, it is able to fly on its own.
- More Jobs should be created.
- Empowerment Programs should be established.
- Rehaps should be encouraged.
- Counselors should be made available.
- The community should stand up that they don't want a standard of crime in the environment and kick against it.
- The authorities should step up their work and stop accepting bribes.
All these and more can be implemented in taking crime to the barest minimum only if we stand up and get moving.
