Since the avert of computer and the improvement of technology, humanity as become so adapted to the usage of computer for most of their various needs, job and fun, and this as lead to most people having side effects health-wise from spending too much time on the computer, so in this article I'll be sharing my experience with computer and how I manage my activities to avoid the side effects I once had while using computers.
But before I share my experience, it's important to note that computers and their smart applications are crucial to humanity. In fact, since their invention, life has become much easier for humans in a variety of ways, including communication, transportation, documentation, and other areas, to name a few. With that in mind, I think we can all agree that computers are essential in the current generation in order to make impact, remain relevant, and stay up to date in a various of spheres of life.
That being said Although using a computer for prolonged periods of time can cause negative health effects, I think we can all agree that this doesn't mean we should give it up or avoid it altogether. Below, I'll share my experience and list the steps I take to minimize these effects.
I remember when I first got my device, I was so impressed by its features, so I tended to spend more time on it playing games, watching movies, or chatting. I also used it for work-related activities, but as I started to spend most of my time with it, I started to notice some health issues, such as strained eyes, joint pain, and the like.
I didn't know where the problems were coming from, so I just went to a pharmacy to complain about joint pain and having issues with my eyes. I was given some medications, but since I used those medications, it had no effect on my health. I returned a few weeks later and this time, I met a more knowledgeable pharmacist who took the time to find out where the joint pains are and the activities I engage in most frequently.
She told me I'm the cause of my problem after hearing about how I typically spend my day, and she then listed the following suggestions along with some medication.
REDUCE BRIGHTNESS: She warned me that spending too much time on the computer was what caused my strained eyes problem, so even if I had to use the computer and my other gadgets, I should try to limit how bright the screen is or fix a brightness correction blind on my computer screen.
And ever since I put that into practice, my eyesight problems have significantly improved. I even changed the display settings on my phone to reading mode, which is more eye-friendly when using a phone.EXERCISE YOUR WRIST AND JOINT: She advised me to regularly stretch my wrist and joints both when I was using the computer and when I wasn't because doing so would lessen the likelihood of developing joint pain. I must say that her advice was quite effective.
- MAINTAINING A GOOD SITTING POSTURE: She claimed that one of the other reasons for joint pain while using the computer is that we often fail to maintain proper sitting posture. This is definitely true for me because whenever I'm absorbed in the computer, I frequently change my posture to suit my preferences. However, after following her advice, the joint pain has significantly decreased.
- TAKE A BREAK: She concluded by saying that it is never too important to get enough rest, so I should make an effort to always take a break after using the computer for a while. This break will help us stretch our muscles and also help them relax, which was very effective when I did because every time I return from a break, I usually feel renewed and reenergized.
That's pretty much all of the ideas she gave me for reducing the harmful health effects of prolonged computer use, and after putting them all into practice, I can attest that they are real and beneficial, and anyone who follows their advise won't become sick when using a computer.
