Rules and regulations are the core cornerstones that help bring orderliness, peace, and decency to a place, and such rules can be within a nation, organization, resident area, and the like. Breaking rules is an act of disobedience that could warrant warmth or punishment, depending on the severity of the rule that was broken. Although I'm the type of person who loves to play by the rules and has issues with breaking any, recently I did break a rule, and today I'll love to tell you everything about it.

Like I said, I hardly broke rules because I love to stick by the slated regulations of wherever I find myself, and it's quite surprising that when I thought about this topic, the thought of the last rule I broke quickly came to mind, and while I tried to think of another, I realized none was forthcoming, which shows that had this particular one not been recent, then I'd most likely have forgotten about it given my adherence to the law mentality.
Well, without further ado, the rule I broke was the one set by the landlady of the place I stayed, and it's kind of normal because most houses, streets, and estates have such rules. Although it varies in time, it's quite common. If you're lost about what the rule is, well, worry no more because it's that every occupant of the place I stayed must be indoors by 10 p.m.
So that has been the standing rule that has been in existence at the house even before I moved in, and at the point of moving in, it was one of the rules that was continuously sang in my ears by the landlady, and I told her it wouldn't be a problem because I'm not an outgoing person, and I even assumed that she might never see such with me except on a few occasions when I traveled or was expecting a guest from a long distance.
I was so sure of myself because when I was growing up, my dad also had such rules, and his was even 9 p.m. lastest, and I can remember how I usually broke his rules just so I could watch the Champions League matches. Then, by the time I came back home, the door would have been locked, and no matter how long I knocked, he wouldn't open the door, and I ended up sleeping outside. So that experience made me change and dislike outgoing, most especially at night, because I don't want a situation where mosquitoes will turn me into their lord's supper.

So on that faithful day, I paid a visit to a friend who was involved in a car accident, and while I was with him at the hospital, the wife was the only one catering for him, and when they requested for some items to be brought, I volunteered to go buy them, so the wife wouldn't stress herself traveling the long distance where the items I was asked to be would be found, and so I went, but unfortunately, I didn't find the item there, and I was referred to another faraway place where I finally got the item, and before I could return it, it was late in the night.
I drop the item off with his wife, check up on my friend before leaving, and by the time I'll get home, it's about 11:40 p.m., which means I'm 1 hour, 40 minutes out of the stipulated time. The landlady heard my footsteps has I stepped into the compound and inquired who it was. I told her it's me, and even though she first inquired with an angry voice, realizing it was me, she changed her tune and inquired where I was coming from and if all was well.
I narrated all that happened to her, and she said no wonder I was late; she didn't bother me but allowed me to enter the compound because that was the first time she'd see me outside my flat anytime above 8 p.m. She told me she knows I'm not a wayward person like my other neighbor, whom she had refused to let enter the compound on several occasions due to the fact that my neighbor always comes home late.
I was excited by her statement and the turnout of the whole event because I've already made plans to visit a friend's place if she refuses to let me in, so once I was inside, I called the friend I would have visited not to bother expecting me because I was allowed to enter.
