It's been a while since my last entry on this weekly prompt. Now I try to share my thought through this prompt. It's interesting for me.
Weekly Prompt: Is Easy Access A Blessing? |
---|
In this day and age, access to knowledge is easy and cheap, it can be gotten without even having to leave the bedroom. However, does this make us more knowledgeable? Are we any more intelligent or smarter than our predecessors who had to travel miles to the library just to seek knowledge? What are your thoughts? |
I remember the first time I gained knowledge in school. All knowledge was obtained from school books. Even getting books other than school books was very difficult. In my country, there was no book called encyclopedia, there was only the RPUL book. The book was continuously updated, according to the year. So the book was like Google at that time.
But now, knowledge can be obtained from anywhere, including social media. This convenience does not even require you to leave the house. If in the past you had to read a lot of books to explore many things, now you only need a smartphone and internet, then whatever piques your curiosity, you will immediately find it.
Educators today have also obtained media that is very easy for anyone to access through social media. You can even watch an English teacher teach while lying down or having lunch. That is one of the advantages of today's technological developments.
However, are we smarter and more intelligent? For me, being smart and intelligent is how someone is able to understand and remember one insight in the long term. There is no guarantee that the ease of access today makes people today smarter than people in the past. The simple proof is, I, who forgets quickly, sometimes find it difficult to receive input from social media. Indeed, nowadays, I can read books easily, but do I feel smarter than people in the past by reading a lot of books? Not really. I believe that the more books you read, the more you know that there are many things you don't know. Got it?
However, if asked whether this ease of access is a blessing, I can say yes. This ease of access is a blessing. Just imagine, to get the RPUL book that I mentioned above, I have to go from one bookstore to another. When I get it, the information I want to know is not necessarily there. In addition, I live in a village so not all types of books are supplied smoothly so I have difficulty getting books from outside. While libraries are only in the capital. So yes, children today have been blessed with easy access. Nowadays, even children who can't read have many books to support their growth. Isn't that very blessed?

Hi, Halo, Annyeong! Welcome to my galaxy.
I have so much imagination in my head. Something that I can't achieve as a human and as a girl. So writing is very challenging. Since Junior High School, I have written whatever I want to write. Without skill, I just write what I want to read. Now I have 12th published novels and all of them are romance.
Yeah, I proudly say that I am a passionate author, traveler wannabe, and blogger.
