For me, school is the foundation. It’s the primary place for growth and development. Allowing cell phones in classrooms, in my view, disconnects students from the offline world, the present moment, and their surroundings—all to keep their heads bent over a screen. It’s a tremendous loss. Life lessons don’t come from the internet but from conversations and real-life experiences.
Another point that bothers me deeply is the dependency that smartphones can create. As a journalist, for example, my work demands focus and attention to detail. I know how important it is to rely on my own abilities to solve problems and make decisions. This independence doesn’t appear out of nowhere; it must be built over time. In my case, it was through learning from real-world challenges that I grew stronger—not from a magic solution at the click of a button.
If students have unrestricted access to smartphones, they might miss the chance to develop this internal strength. É muito óbvio que estar com um aparelho nas mãos tira a nossa atenção, nos torna distraídos com as notificações constantes e isso não é diferente com as crianças.
Para mim, a escola é a base. É o lugar principal de crescimento e desenvolvimento. Com celulares permitidos em salas de aula, ao meu ver, os alunos se desconectam do mundo offline, do presente, do redor. Tudo isso para ficarem com a cabeça virada para baixo em uma tela. É uma perda absurda. Lições de vida não vem da internet, mas sim de conversas, de vivência.
Outro ponto que me incomoda muito é a dependência que o celular pode gerar. Como jornalista, por exemplo, meu trabalho exige concentração e atenção aos detalhes. Eu sei o quanto é importante confiar na própria capacidade de resolver problemas e tomar decisões. Essa independência não surge do nada, ela precisa ser construída ao longo do tempo. No meu caso, foi aprendendo com desafios na vida real que me fortaleci. Não uma solução mágica ao alcance de um clique.
Se os estudantes tem acesso irrestrito a celulares, eles podem acabar perdendo a chance de desenvolver essa força interna. Eu sei que a tecnologia tem o seu lugar e pode ser uma aliada incrível no aprendizado. Mas o uso dela precisa ser equilibrado. Há momentos certos para usar celulares e momentos em que é melhor deixá-los de lado.
