Tests sometimes can come in different ways, and the impromptu ones? They are most times not friendly, cause we are not expecting it at all, they just hit us like an accident, you know that we do not plan to have an accident and so when the accident happens, it comes as a shock, that we didn't expect it, and it might turn out bad...
Life sometimes is not predictable, sometimes, there are just some things, some challenges that comes our way as a test, they come impromptu, and then most of the times, when we overcome them, there used i be a lesson and a blessing behind, and them the other times, after the challenges, all we have is just experience and lessons we are to learn from si we can face our next phase that life has brought us...
I think earlier this week, something happened, an impromptu job came for me that Monday morning, I didn't understand, you know I am a photographer, I used to resume work by 10am, but that Monday, I was so tired after I woke up, I didn't exactly know what my body was feeling like, all I knew was that I felt a bit lazy that I didn't want to go to work that early, but either ways, I must to go, so I stood up from my bed to my parent's room, after greeting them, this was like around after nine in the morning, so I was just being reluctant to do anything that morning, and then the next thing was that around about 9:28 am, I received a call from someone I was never expecting, and I was like wow, this was someone I worked for about last year December, for his Christmas carol, and then it's been 6 months now, and he's calling me? What is this all about? Did anything happen? Is it for business? Why could he possibly be calling me? Is there a specific or special requests he has for me?
Well, to be honest, that morning, a lot of things were just going through my mind, I couldn't say that one thing for sure was the reason behind why he had to call me that day. (guess what, the funniest thing about all of these was that all the whole thinking and happened in my mind for just about 5 seconds or less)
Well, after all said and calculated on my head, I answered the call, and the after the pleasantries, the next thing I heard was that can you make it to The Ambassador School by 10:00 am , in my mind,I was so happy cause it's work, but I did not understand why he had to call me at that time, like why will you have to call me 30 minutes to your program, and then I told him that I'll call him back.
I called my boss and explained the situation to him, (this was where the test begun) he then didn't tell me how to charge my client, he wanted to see how I was going to charge my client, he only gave me some expenses, and told me to add my charges to the expenses, and so I did my own balancing, it was not too good, but because I was not yet used to pricing my client, I just agreed to a certain amount.
Then after all the whole thing, i got back late that day, and so I couldn't give my boss a feedback, and so the next day I gave him the feedback, then he was like i was just testing your capability with how to reasons price with your client, and then he started correcting me so much that I saw my fault, he was like I should have taken the advantage of the late timing, and charged way higher than I did, and then he was like next time you'll be wiser, I should use this one as an example and an experience to learn from...
So sometimes, the test doesn't come as we wish it did, and then we call it impromptu. Always be prepared! Always!
