Let me begin by stating an interesting fact about music:
Do you know?
Songs/music generally are not vital for survival, they are not required in any way for human existence.
Irrespective of the above fact, music remains key to human existence. In fact, most people without having an explanation for it, agree with the statement below:
Music is life itself.
Louis Armstrong
Music & Me
Just like everyone else, music has been an integral part of my life. Although, I am not the best singer or one with a melodious voice, but my voice surely sounds good in my head, especially when I am singing inside the bathroom, I just feel like being auditioned in a music contest immediately (but please don’t attempt to record me, I’ll always deny the voice).
I really do not have any particular genre of music that I favour over the others, though I have been more attracted to rap and hip-hop in general, but I am honestly attracted to good tunes, be it afrobeat, some gospels, hiphop, and few blues (very few blues).
My Favourites
It’s very hard to pick a favourite from the total 145 songs on my playlist, however, here are the few I am most likely allow play on once they come on:
Ogechukwu by Buju ft Cavemen
This song is a very melodious tone, with a mix of the Igboic ethnic sound and Buju’s (now BNXM) lyrical sound, it is always a pleasure to hear the song come on. Here is a lyric card from the song:

Anxiety by Coi Leray
This song speaks volumes about the typical life of the average human today, a life of anxiousness, ridden with numerous troubles; but it also gives hope. Here is a lyrical snippet:

The Sacrifice by M.I. Abaga ft. Nawe
I don’t know the category this song best fits in. But it was just a frank expression of the artiste’s thoughts and emotions through music. The bass hits hard, the lyrics hits soft. Here is a lyric card:

Drifting by NF
This is one of the cleanest rap single you will ever listen to. Its more than just clean, it is a thoughtful combination of deep thoughts and feelings, to teach and to inform. Here is a lyric card:
Final Words
While music may not present any real physiological or direct tangible benefit key to our survival, the impact of music in our lives cannot be understated. Most often, our choices, decisions and actions are shaped directly or indirectly by the type of song we listen to. So, choose your songs wisely, and if possible, always try to enjoy the song and leave the artiste’s alone (separate them).
