Well here I am and still so happy, not only to be alive, but also to be on #Hive on Day #28 in the #IAmAlive Community with all these wonderful and supportive people from around the world and in the IAmAliveChallenge so gratefully created by @ErikGussafson @Flaxz and if you want to know more about this amazing community to see just why you need to join and share in the love, then read more here @flaxz/glmrrjya
Hi to everyone in the community and a big, fat welcome to those just joining us for the first time. So nice to have you here! 😀
This original photo I took just a few weeks ago and I see life.
I see life on this open road, a bit bumpy, a bit empty, a bit rough around the edges but yours to drive your life along, and to fill with all kinds of good stuff, so all you need to do is be pro-active and choose to use opportunities to fill it with whatever you can to improve your life as well as others.
And if there's no opportunities to take advantage of, then make them.
After all, who said you can't be driving down this road in a bus full of appreciative passengers!
So a nice, easy, but productive day for me uploading some old footage to ......name shall not be mentioned here....and one day, you guys will actually get to see that old footage on 3speak, but for now, the most important thing is getting the footage off the tapes before they deteriorate too much and we lose it forever.
After all, this footage all shot by volunteers in a community non-profit video production house between 1988 and 2010 has been deemed nationally and historically significant by the NFSA-the BIG Kahunas as it presents perspectives from minority communities about a huge range of topics that you won't see on mainstream, commercial TV.
And eventually when you do see it on 3speak, you'll be amazed that it wasn't shot yesterday and you'll be amazed at how nothing has changed in 10/20/30/40 yrs......https://melbournemediaarch.wixsite.com/melb-media-archive/organisations-that-ska-tv-filmed
And talking about engaging with a bus full of people, I too have been engaging on the #HiveIsAlive today in the #IAmAEngagedChallenge and have come across some absolute gems for you to meet too.
So first off, for all of you #Hiveans out there who want to be loud and proud about the #HiveCommunity and give everyone a huge, fat #Hive5, then I wholeheartedly recommend that you checkout (and checkout some goodies) on @Bradleyarrows BRAND SPANKING NEW SHOP to celebrate our wonderful #HiveFamily.
So if you just click on these links, it will take you to an ever growing list of awesome products with thanks to @BradleyArrow and @Zoltan @ph1101 apparently...myhiveswag.store----- https://hive-swag.myshopify.com/collections/all
And then there's this great B&W photo from @xxxthorxxx in the #Gems community who took this photo of 2 teenagers sitting at a bus stop and I think that a part from the face masks, there's unfortunately really not much difference between now and pre-corona.
Everyone- young old and indifferent now constantly have their eyes glued to their phones, which is why there has been a huge increase in back and neck pain from sitting hunched over all the time...
And then there's another bus driver here by the name of @cryptopie who I would like you to meet and someone who feels all the bumps in the road, but keeps driving along, slowly but surely gathering friends and supporters along the way and I'm sure, has a hugely different perspective not only on life, but also Corona...@cryptopie/i-went-home-gloriously-completed-my-treatment-session
And then in the #NaturalMedicine community I came across a guy by the name of @deuceman that is creating a way on the #Hive so that he can become a bus driver to drive and support others in need. @deuceman/introducing-hearts-health-and-recovery-tribe-coming-soon Which is actually along similar lines with what @AchimMertens, @BasilMarples, @Stevec, @Grampo, others and I want to create too @deuceman/introduction-to-hearts-health-and-recovery-tribe-coming-soon so check it out, you never know how beneficial it could be to you or someone you know.
And last but certainly not least in my sights tonight, is @papilloncharity who seem to be #ThrivingOnHive from South Africa @papilloncharity/why-do-we-say-that-we-are-verified who raise money for a range of different communities by sharing their awesome nature photos with the world and I love it.
I love the fact that they are not only educating the world about nature, but also creating awareness of so many issues involving both the beauty and destruction of nature and the inequality of humans, but also supporting so many people that need the help on top of all that! A big shout out to these guys for their dedication and compassion.
So on that note, I will leave you with one more thought-And ofcourse an original photo of mine.
And that thought is about only leaving good stuff, positive, meaningful, supportive stuff behind you in your wake as you travel along life's bumpy roads and waterways.
**Not rubbish. NO rubbish. **
Mother Earth and her furbabies are already drowning in more than enough rubbish.
In fact, just one more quick thing. A new report has come out about just how many animals- both native, farming and even domestic animals died absolute agonising deaths in our last mega bushfire that completely surrounded the area that I grew up in and the number has tripled in comparison to what they first estimated.
According to *WWF- World Wildlife Fund Nearly three billion animals – mammals, reptiles, birds, and frogs – were killed or displaced by Australia’s devastating 2019-20 bushfires. *
https://www.wwf.org.au/news/news/2020/3-billion-animals-impacted-by-australia-bushfire-crisis
The breakdown is 143 million mammals, 2.46 billion reptiles, 180 million birds, and 51 million frogs.
Those figures are revealed in an interim report entitled Australia’s 2019-2020 Bushfires: The Wildlife Toll, commissioned by the World Wide Fund for Nature and believed to be world first research.
Ten scientists from the University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, University of Newcastle, Charles Sturt University, and BirdLife Australia contributed the majority of the work.
**This brings tears to my eyes all over again. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Can you even imagine the pain suffered by soooooo many extremely frightened animals that literally had no where to go because the fire was so intense that not only did it burn everything above the ground but also burrows and homes under the ground.
**Can you even comprehend that number? **
3 BILLION
😳
So this is one of the many reasons why I say leave only good stuff behind and no rubbish- rubbish being everything from a glass bottle thrown out of your car window to create a magnifying glass that will light the grass inwhich it lands on when the sun gets it hot enough;
To your lit cigarette butt thrown out the car window;
To all of those industries that continue to contribute to climate change (and you know who they are...) and to all of those governments- especially our western governments that continue to deny climate change and instead support those same industries that contribute to climate change....
**
47 people died in our fires. People that my 85yr old dad knew. ** We had the worst bushfire all over Australia in recorded History. We've also had the worst drought in Australia in recorded History and this long lasting drought has not only killed so many animals but has also taken the lives of so many farmers to financial debt and suicide.
**The little, historic town of Cobargo burnt to the ground. Many of my old school friends lost EVERYTHING as their homes burnt down. **
And I know that Millions of people around the world have suffered through similar ordeals such as flood, drought, earthquakes, volcanoes, etc, but so many of these "natural" disasters did not have to be as extreme and deadly as they are now.
Sorry, that wasn't so quick, but it was sooo important for me to get out there.
Now here's that photos that I mentioned above.
Leave nothing in your wake except goodness and positive impacts.....and goodnight.
