Happy 4th of July! Mainly, to the friends of the United States, who are celebrating their Independence Day. I have some friends who live in that country, so they must be celebrating today. For me, this is the 185th day of the year 2022, it is also the 843rd day since that Friday, in March a couple of years ago, when the start of the #quarantine was announced in #Venezuela due to the #COVID-19 #pandemic. Much has happened since then, and today we are facing an annoying situation in which the pandemic is not completely overcome and every so often a new wave of infections arises.
Looking at the date, I couldn't help but remember a movie from a decade ago that I found entertaining, light, with a certain very pro-American bias, but anyway, one of those entertainment movies that are meant to pass the time, not to enter into great debates. I am referring to Independence Day (1996), today one can laugh at its effects and criticize its plot, but really, I enjoyed it at the time, always remembering that after all, it is a film for escape, an enjoyment to entertain, where the "good guys" can win the game even against a superior force (both in numbers and in war technology), which I know is fantasy and that is why I can enjoy it without a sense of guilt or without pretend that such things happen in reality.

Tengo algunas amistades que viven en ese país, así que deben estar celebrando el día de hoy. Para mí, este es el día 185 del año 2022, también es el día 843 desde aquel viernes, en marzo de hace un par de años, que en #Venezuela se anunció el inicio de la #Cuarentena por la #pandemia de #Covid19. Mucho ha pasado desde entonces y hoy en día estamos afrontando una situación molesta en que la pandemia no se termina de superar y cada cierto tiempo surge una nueva ola de contagios.
Viendo la fecha, no pude evitar recordar una película de hace década que encontré entretenida, ligera, con cierto tiente muy pro-norteamericano, pero en fin, una de esas películas de entretenimiento que son para pasar el rato, no para entrar en grandes debates. Me refiero a Día de la Independencia (1996), hoy en día se puede uno reír de sus efectos y criticar su trama, pero de verdad, la disfruté en su momento, siempre recordando que a fin de cuentas, es una película para evasión, un disfrute para entretener, en donde los "chicos buenos" pueden ganar la partida incluso contra una fuerza superior (tanto en número, como en tecnología bélica), cosa que sé que es fantasía y por eso la puedo disfrutar sin sentido de culpa o sin pretender que tales cosas ocurran en la realidad.

I suppose you could really complain about the superficiality of my taste in movies, but you have to remember that tastes are free (insert smile here), after all, everyone chooses what they enjoy, and we should not impose on others people our criteria as if it were the only correct one in this world. In truth, that attitude is more typical of film specialists or critics, but I tend to believe that it is a form of segregation with classist and somewhat egocentric ideals, since it usually happens that there is a discrepancy between the collection of ticket sales and sales in general of movies and critics' ratings, so the funnier and more popular a movie is, the more likely it is that critics will trash it... well, sometimes there are movies that are so bad that the criteria do match, but that is already a film disaster that he does not consider so frequent.
Another rain is already approaching my house, so for sure I will lose the Internet signal or the electricity service will be lost, both things may happen at the same time, so I better say goodbye and post while my "country reality" allows me to do so. Supongo que de verdad te podrías quejar de lo superficial de mi gusto por las películas, pero hay que recordar que los gustos son libre (inserte acá una sonrisa), a fin de cuentas, cada quien escoge lo que disfruta y no debemos imponerle a otras personas nuestro criterio como si fuera el único correcto en este mundo. En verdad que esa actitud es más propia de los especialistas o críticos de cine, pero tengo la tendencia a creer que es una forma de segregación con ideales clasistas y algo egocéntricos, pues suele pasar que hay discordancia entre la recaudación de venta de boletos y ventas en general de las películas y las valoraciones de los críticos, así, mientras más divertida y popular sea una película, más probable es que los críticos la destrocen... bueno, en ocasiones, hay películas tan malas que los criterios si coinciden, pero eso ya es un desastre fílmico que no considera tan frecuente.
Por mi casa ya se aproxima otra lluvia, así que de seguro perderé la señal de Internet o se perderá el servicio eléctrico, puede que ambas cosas ocurran a la vez, así que mejor me despido y publico mientras mi "realidad país" me permite hacerlo. Te deseo que estés bien y que nos podamos leer en otra oportunidad.
