Today I am solving problems with my computer and with the internet signal, luckily, I have managed to connect using my brother's old cell phone that got a signal. The weather is cool and there are signs that it will rain again soon, maybe with the rains some of the cell service antennas will turn off or fall, that would explain why my BAM-Internet devices are failing, hopefully it's something that can be repaired in a short time.
In general, apart from the power supply problems and the signal failures, I must say that my #life is fine, I am recovering (finally) from the bad cold that I had for days and I already hope that this weekend will go away pass everything. So, I think I'll move on in this record of the day to comment now on the ephemeris of #History for today. An anniversary that, by the way, has to do with a drink that began as a medicine, but today is a fairly widespread alcoholic beverage on this side of the world, today is 'World Gin Day', a mobile date in the calendar, which is held every second Saturday of the month of June.

Hoy estoy resolviendo problemas con mi computadora y con la señal de internet, por suerte, he logrado conectarme usando un viejo celular de mi hermano que agarró señal. El clima está fresco y hay señales de que volverá a llover en breve, puede que con las lluvias alguna de las antenas de servicio celular se apagara o se cayera, eso explicaría por qué mis dispositivos de BAM-Internet están fallando, ojalá sea una cosa que se pueda reparar en corto tiempo.
En general, fuera de los problemas de suministro eléctrico y las fallas de señal, debo decir que mi #vida está bien, me estoy recuperando (por fin) del fuerte resfriado que tenía desde hace días y ya espero que este fin de semana se me pase todo. Así que creo que pasaré en este registro del día a comentar ya sobre la efeméride de la #Historia para el día de hoy. Una efeméride que, por cierto, tiene que ver con una bebida que comenzó como medicamento, pero que hoy en día es una bebida alcohólica bastante difundida por este lado del mundo, hoy es el ‘Día Mundial de la Ginebra’, una fecha móvil en el calendario, que se celebra cada segundo sábado del mes de junio.

I was a bit intrigued to find out about the date, since I had heard that gin had started as something other than an #alcoholic drink itself, but I thought it had to do with the perfume industry, apparently, I was wrong about that. It seems that it was around the 17th century that it all began in Holland, a European country, as a plant distillate in an alcoholic base that was intended to serve as a treatment for kidney problems. A distillation of various elements was prepared, such as rye, barley, corn and juniper. It is from this last ingredient that its name in Dutch is “Genever” and from its characteristic smell it is derived that it is given his name to the drink.
But the popularity of the drink is attributed to British soldiers, who spread its consumption and took it with them to the islands of the United Kingdom, and later to all the colonies of the British Empire. Already by the 20th century, #Gin was a very popular #drink, by itself or as an ingredient for cocktails. In my memories of adolescence, in Venezuela some four decades ago, gin is among my most blurred memories and I must say embarrassing, because it is a drink that I can consider 'treacherous', since in fact its combination can be made in preparations 'sweet and soft' but when they accumulate, they unleash such a drunkenness that one completely loses memories for a very long time.
Anyway, nowadays, I hardly drink anything, but it would be worth celebrating the date with a small drink of this refreshing drink, who knows, maybe it will help fight diseases or something like that (personal laughter). Anyway, I say goodbye, wishing you that you are well and that we can read each other again another time.

Me intrigó un poco averiguar sobre la fecha, pues yo había escuchado que la Ginebra había comenzado como una cosa distinta a una bebida #alcoholica en sí, pero creí que tenía que ver con la industria del perfume, al parecer me he equivocado con eso. Parece que fue por el siglo XVII que todo comenzó en Holanda, país europeo, como un destilado de plantas en una base alcohólica que estaba destinada a servir de tratamiento para los problemas renales. Se preparó una destilación de varios elementos, como centeno, cebada, maíz y enebro, de este último ingrediente es que se tiene que su nombre en holandés es “Genever” y de su olor característico se deriva que se le diera su nombre a la bebida.
Pero la popularidad de la bebida se les atribuye a los soldados británicos, que extendieron su consumo y la llevaron consigo a las islas del Reino Unido, y después a todas las colonias del Imperio Británico. Ya para el siglo XX, la #Ginebra era una #bebida muy popular, por sí misma o como ingrediente para cocteles. En mis recuerdos de adolescencia, en la #Venezuela de hace unas cuatro décadas, la ginebra está entre mis recuerdos más borrosos y debo decir que bochornosos, pues es una bebida que puedo considerar ‘traicionera’, pues en realidad su combinación puede hacerse en preparaciones ‘dulces y suaves’ pero que cuando se acumulan, desatan una borrachera que uno pierde totalmente los recuerdos por un muy largo rato.
En fin, hoy en día no bebo casi nada, pero bien valdría la pena celebrar la fecha con un pequeño trago de esta refrescante bebida, quien sabe, a lo mejor y resulta que si ayuda a combatir enfermedades o algo así (risa personal).
