In the kingdom of God, ignorance is a weapon the devil uses against believers. Many Christians suffer spiritual defeat not because they lack power, but because they lack understanding of the authority that has been given to them through Christ.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” — Hosea 4:6
When Jesus rose from the grave, He didn’t just conquer sin and death — He handed over authority to His followers. That authority wasn’t given so we could live in fear or spiritual confusion, but so we could take dominion over every work of darkness.
“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” — Luke 10:19
However, power unused is as good as power unknown. Many believers confess Christ but continue to live like victims — struggling with oppression, spiritual attacks, stagnation, fear, and compromise. This should not be so.
If you’re born again, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you (Romans 8:11). That Spirit gives you the authority to:
Cast out devils (Mark 16:17)
Speak life where there is death
Reject demonic manipulation
Walk boldly in righteousness and truth
But authority is enforced by knowledge. You must know the Word, believe it, and apply it.
Three Steps to Walking in Authority:
- Feed on the Word of God daily
Your authority is rooted in God’s Word. Without it, you will be spiritually weak and ignorant of your rights in Christ.
- Reject Fear and Doubt
Fear opens the door to bondage (Romans 8:15). Boldly declare what the Word says, even when your feelings or situation suggest otherwise.
- Use the Name of Jesus
There is power in that Name. Philippians 2:10 says, “At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.”
Prayer Declaration:
Father, I thank You for the authority I have in Christ Jesus. I reject fear, sin, and every demonic influence. I declare that I am seated with Christ in heavenly places, far above all powers and principalities. I walk in victory and freedom, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
