Every journey has its own unique rhythm, and for my family, a four -to five-hour drive to the Southern part of our province always comes with a beloved pause at the heartwarming Municipality of Naga. Our favorite stopovers, the Public Plaza, and the Naga Boardwalk, have become a cherished tradition for us, especially when we're on our way to the enchanting Church of Simala.
We always leave the house at dawn when we travel going to Simala which allows us to always have our wonderful stopover in the public plaza of Naga. Our stopover serves not just our muscle stretcher and ice breaker of the long ride but also a heartwarming and relaxation early in the morning.
As we witness the beautiful sunrise in this part of our province, we find solace in the sight of the locals on their early hikes, while we also leisurely stroll in the serenity of the surroundings.
So today's blog will be my simple stroll in this beautiful and peaceful plaza and Boardwalk of Naga. Let's go! Taraaa!
Naga Public Plaza and Naga's Boardwalk
During our recent trip to the South, we found ourselves in this tranquil haven again. As soon as we parked our vehicle, we could feel right away the quietness of the early morning. The wind and the sea breeze are crisp, and the world is silent and still, creating the perfect backdrop for our family's precious moments and breakfast time.🤗
Our journey to the South begins with a homemade breakfast prepared by our loving mother. The famous hanging rice paired with fried native chicken and adobo always tasted scrumptious when we ate them at the plaza. There's something comforting about sharing a meal together at this serene place. It gives us time to reconnect, fuel up, and prepare for the long adventures that lie ahead.
While we savor the homemade delights, our kids can't resist playing and running in the ground and the allure of the street food, Taho, their favorite morning treat. Their laughter and delight fill the air, adding an extra layer of joy to our stopover. I remember a few years ago, we were carrying our kids in our arms, but now when we gaze upon them they joyfully occupy the plaza running here and there!
Following our meal, I embark on a leisurely stroll around, soaking in the serene ambiance. My favorite spot is the Boardwalk. The local government has done an incredible job developing the Naga Boardwalk. I love its newly painted design and its railings not to mention its nicely constructed facility within the boardwalk.
It's a picturesque walkway that meanders along the shore, with the view of the beach in front, the beautiful paintings on the boardwalk, the backdrop of majestic mountains, and the lush greenery of the Plaza. It's a blend of nature and community that's simply breathtaking.
They also have a playground for children which unfortunately we haven't tried just once because it still is closed every time we drop at the plaza, leaving the kids watching at it from outside the fence.
What makes this place even more special is the warmth of the locals. Early morning hikers and friendly vendors greet us with genuine smiles and friendly conversation. It's like visiting old friends, even if we've just met.
We've watched this place evolve and improve with each visit, but its core charm remains untouched. It's a sanctuary of calmness, a place where time slows down, and is always the best place for our stopover and have our breakfast.
For our family, the Plaza and Naga Boardwalk are more than just a stopover; they are a sanctuary, a place of rest, and a heartwarming start to our journeys in the South. It's where we gather our strength, appreciates life's simple pleasures, prepare to create new memories, and enjoy our homemade baon for our long ride!
So, if you ever find yourself on the road to the Southern part of Cebu, don't forget to make a stop at Naga. You'll discover that sometimes, the most ordinary places hold extraordinary magic.
Before I end this blog, from Naga let me bring you further to the beautiful and miraculous shrine of Simala and some of the old churches we passed along the way!
It was another long beautiful day!
That's it for our favorite stopover, the tranquil plaza of Naga and its boardwalk. Thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed it too. I wish you all safe and well always.
Don't forget to smile often.🤗😊😍
