So, taking advantage of our first day of freedom yesterday (and an appt at the docs) I went for a walk around St Kilda Beach, the infamous Acland St where they have far too many 'European' style shops filled with far, far too many sickly sweet cakes (and I'm so sorry that I forgot to take photos of them for you, but trust me, nope...a aaa- once in 2005 was enough and never ever again shall I waste money on them...)
And listened to this brilliant playlist of US3 on Spotify courtesy of Blue Note Records
Anyway, St Kilda- once a holiday destination away from the city of Melbourne back in the early 1900's when traveling about 6km by horse and carriage over rough roads would have taken far longer than the 15-20mins is does on the tram...https://stkildahistory.org.au/about/timeline-1800-1900
So ofcourse I caught the tram there
with this bunch of funky people
With my new DIY haircut....bloody gray hair YUK! Grrrr....π‘
To catch up with this wild and fun loving crew
And saw these guys hanging out on the roof enjoying the sun too..(probably high on Pharmaceuticals too...).
And then headed to the beach
Sat in the sun and warm up for the first time in a while....
Watched the people walking in the wild winds for a while
Made sure the Little lighthouse was still standing down towards Brighton (where KAREN lives...)
Caught up with these guys for a while
Until they bought all the birds round to the party so when it got a bit loud, (and cold) I decided to leave before the cops came and crashed the party...
Then I thought I'd walk up Fitzroy St to see the action- not much either...not until they have the next St Kilda festival and there's an extra 300k-400k people swarming the whole area https://www.stkildafestival.com.au/festival-info/about-the-festival
Went past the Palais Theatre to see who was playing.... (and that would be a big, fat, NO-ONE....) https://palaistheatre.com.au/whats-on
Then saw this guy who had his mouth hanging open positively begging for a photo to be taken of him...
And then wanted to take a selfie- but enough with the selfies I say peoples- I don't want to be looking up your noses....
And then told me to check out the deets of his Great Scenic Railway so I could get home before it rained on me.
So I hope that you all enjoyed your abbreviated tour to St Kilda andit made you all smile- especially @elizaCheng for her #Makemesmile initiative and I'm so sorry that I forgot to buy you all cakes- next time I promise!
I look forward to taking you somewhere next Wednesday for @tattoodjays wonderful #wednesdayWalks and maybe one day when the pandemic is over and the world is open again, I'll, take you all for another tour around here IRL! How exciting would that be. πππππ
