Photos featured are taken by my daughter with her smartphone. They are now part of my collection.
We are now facing the second week of our enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). Since it started nine days ago, I have been posting updates when I can. I try not to go out as much as possible. Let's face it, the less outside contact you have, the less possibility of getting the covid-19 virus. This is our family's goal at the moment. I live with a senior citizen (Mom) who is considered high-risk for this condition. We only have one rented apartment. Should one of us catch it, the others will be placed at risk too.
My daughter still goes to work daily. Thankfully, it's a mere ten minutes walk from home to work. For this post, she gladly took these photos for me as she was walking home from work earlier. Just gotta love a supportive daughter!
These photos were taken from a usually busy part of town. Those are malls and shopping areas on the side, but these days hardly anyone goes out, unless there's an emergency. Note: my daughter also mentioned the presence of uniformed military personnel near where she took these photos. I suppose they do screen folks who were seen walking or driving around.
In a way it's good to see a majority of the people cooperating with the call to stay indoors during these trying times. Our medical and health workers are all maxed out. I guess everyone just wants to do their part in lessening the burden of our frontliners. Locally, we have already lost five good doctors in the fight against covid-19. It's truly disheartening.
What scares me more, however, is the long-term economic impact of the ECQ. We also have a vast majority of wage earners who are relying on a daily / weekly income. They are not getting paid right now. I join the ranks of the "no work, no pay" workers, sad to say. So, I'm a bit more motivated right now in exploring income earning potentials online.
On my part, I would also go out to buy essentials. I must say that I have done that already for the week. So for now, it's safe to say we're ready for another week or two of lockdown. I'm sharing a video that I took for my own walk yesterday as I went to procure some pet supplies for our beloved pets.
