This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.
If you want to know more about the rules, visit this week's post by @tattoodjay where you will find all the rules at the bottom of his post after you've enjoyed his beautiful photos from his walk.
Last weekend, I wanted to see some boats and ships, and what better place than the harbor?
We parked the car at Wilson's Wharf and walked down in the direction of the Port Natal Maritime Museum.
Between the museum and Wilson's Wharf is an area from where you can see some activity in the harbor.
Just below Wilson's Wharf, is where I took the first photo.
I took this photo of this cargo ship on the other side of the harbor from where I was standing.
Looking to the right, some of the boats in Wilson's Wharf are
also visible form here.
Walking back to Wilson Wharf, I started taking photos of the boats in Wilson's Wharf.
It was a nice day for being out at sea and it was visible seeing how many boats were out.
For the next photo, I zoomed in a bit on the nice boat that is also visible in the center of the last photo (above).
Yet, looking out straight in front of me, there were still many boats at anchor in Wilson Wharf.
In the next photo, a boat is coming in (center of the photo) after a pleasure cruise, taking some guests out on a short pleasure cruise.
I managed to get down and pretty close to the pier to get the next photo.
A nice view over the water with the boats down the sides...
Looking out over the water from the opposite side, with the city of Durban in the background.
I took many photos in this area, but I'll save the others for later in another post.
For now, let me take you around to the other side of the harbor.
We got in the car and drove around to the other side, next to the Point Waterfront.
We parked across the road from the harbor passenger terminal building.
With a huge cargo ship sticking out behind the building.
I walked down the road, to the bottom end to get a photo of the ship from this end too...
A little further down, behind this ship, I was able to fit the lens of my camera through the palisade fencing and get this shot of the nose of the hopper dredger, the ISANDLWANA.
On the opposite side of the road, there was some interesting artwork on some of the buildings.
This tree in particular caught my attention...
Some interesting "old" architecture is still visible in this area...
Walking to the bottom end of the road, looking back, modern architecture is making its appearance amongst the old...
While looking to the right (as the road makes a ninety-degree bend), looking further up towards the beach, it has a more modern look.
The modern building standing amidst the older building belongs to the well-known LION MATCH COMPANY.
...with its impressive entrance...
And that's it for today folks. Thank you for reading my post. I do appreciate it!
