It was July 7, I remember the date well, because according to the old Julian calendar, this day is the Christian holiday of the Nativity of John the Baptist. People in the village try not to do hard work and rest. So, I finally got ready for a tour of my favorite Olesky Castle!
I am so used to this giant on the horizon that if it disappeared from the landscape, I would be very surprised... But that it is difficult to write about native places))) Because I want to tell you all, all, all.
Привіт, друзі! Сьогодні чудова осіння середа, а я хочу пригадати одну літню середу, коли вирішила зробити собі подарунок. Робити собі подарунки — це хороша річ, погодьтеся! Це було 7 липня, я добре запам’ятала дату, адже за старим юліянським календарем в цей день є християнське свято Різдва Івана Хрестителя. Люди в селі стараються не виконувати важкої роботи і відпочивати. Отож, я нарешті зібралась на екскурсію в мій улюблений Олеський замок!
Я настільки звикла до цього велетня на горизонті, що якби він зник з краєвиду, я б дуже здивувалась... Але що про рідні місця важко писати))) Бо хочеться розповісти усе-усе-усе. Тому я вирішила розбити свою розповідь на кілька частин, щоб вас не втомити)
The day was warm, even hot, but I was happy, because the beginning of summer was cold. After buying a ticket, I found myself on the alley in the shade of old trees. There were few people, because Wednesday is a working day.
I've been here many times, but unfortunately all my photos have disappeared somewhere... And when there are no photos, the memory is erased faster. First I went to the castle yard, the first mention of which dates back to 1327! Nowadays there is a museum inside, a branch of the Lviv Art Gallery. There's a lot of cool stuff from the past. And I'll talk about that later.
День був теплий, навіть спекотний, проте я раділа, адже початок літа був холодним. Купившиквиточок, я опинилась на алеї у чудовому затінку давніх дерев. Людей було мало, адже все-таки середа — це робочий день. Я неодноразово тут бувала, але на жаль всі мої фото кудись зникли... А коли немає фото, то і пам’ять швидше стирається. Спочатку я зайшла у двір замку, перша згадка про який належить до 1327 року! У наш час всередині є музей, філія Львівської картинної галереї. Там багато крутих речей з минулого. І я про це згодом розповім.
From the wooden gallery of the castle there is a beautiful view of the town of Olesko and the surrounding fields. Do you see a forest on the horizon? At the edge of this forest in a small village I live))) The distance from here is about 4 km.

My soul, well, my body as well:) that day especially wanted to walk in the castle park. So I invite you for a walk. If you are a brave person. Why the courage to walk in the park? Unfortunately, the area around the castle is large. Some parts are cared for, and some are not mown at all. Ukraine is a country where you can find very cool sights of the past. But their condition is not always satisfactory.
The park has probably been here since the Renaissance, more precisely from the 17th century, although its exact boundaries are unknown. This place is essentially a swamp, among which "grew" a lonely hill 50 meters high, on which the castle was built. The swamp was a good protection against enemies!
There used to be two ponds here, which are now overgrown. I remember them, but I was still a child then.
Моя душа, ну і тіло також)))) у той день особливо прагнули погуляти у замковому парку. Тому я запрошую на прогулянку і вас. Якщо ви смілива людина. Для чого сміливість гуляючим по парку? Логічне питання. На жаль територія навколо замку велика. Частину сяк-так доглядають, а частина взагалі некошена. Україна — це є країна, де ви можете знайти дуже круті пам’ятки минулого. Але їхній стан не завжди задовільний. Парк був тут ще з епохи ренесансу, точніше десь із 17 століття, хоча точні його межі та вигляд є невідомі. Це місце — це є по суті болото, серед якого “виріс” одинокий пагорб 50 метрів висотою, на якому звели замок. Болото було гарним захистом від ворогів! Не дивно, що колись тут було два ставки, які тепер заросли. Я пам’ятаю їх, але тоді я була ще маленькою.
Due to the high humidity there are many willows, ashes, oaks, some bushes, conifers, including various species of thuja. I like that there is so much greenery here! And I like to catch the unusual angles of the castle in the frame of this greenery. To be honest, I don't even know where the castle territory ends here... I stick to the official alleys. Unlike the cool rooms of the castle, the street is hot.
Через високу вологість тут багато верб, ростуть також ясени, дуби, якісь кущі, хвойні дерева, зокрема різні види туй. Мені подобається те, що тут стільки зелені! І я люблю з-поміж цієї зелені ловити у кадр незвичні ракурси замку. Якщо чесно я навіть не знаю, де тут закінчується територія замку. Тримаюсь офіційних алейок. На відміну від прохолодних кімнат замку, на вулиці спекотно.
From afar, my attention is drawn to the sculpture of Adam and Eve, which looks beautiful in the middle of tall thujas. Unfortunately, I do not know the author. Well, it's probably 70-80 years of the 20th century. After all, in 1951 there was a fire that greatly destroyed the ancient fortress. The castle was rebuilt in the 60-70s. Therefore, probably some trees and sculptures were created just then.
Здалеку мою увагу привертає скульптура Адама і Єви, яка красиво виглядає посеред високих туй. На жаль я не знаю автора((( Якщо знайду, то напишу. Ну, це мабуть 70-80 роки 20 століття. Адже у 1951 році відбулась пожежа, яка дуже зруйнувала давню твердиню. Замок відбудовували у 60-70х роках. Тому мабуть і деякі дерева, і скульптури створили саме тоді.
I went further and came across an interesting old thujas, which is more like a spruces. It's almost darkness inside and even a little cool. Maybe I've never been here before... To return to the central alley, I go up the stairs, which are guarded by two girls. Whether mermaids or sphinxes... In short, something beautiful and bizarre.
Я пішла далі і натрапила на цікавий міні-ліс із старих туй, які формою більше схожі на ялини. Як круто, там всередині майже повна темрява і навіть трошки прохолодно. Можливо я тут ще ніколи не була... Щоб повернутись на центральну алею я піднімаюсь сходами, яких охороняють дві дівчини. чи то русалки, чи сфінкси... Коротше, щось красиве і химерне.
And finally, another nice place is an alley of modern sculptures. They appeared here after the sculptors' plein air in 1996. In my opinion, modern sculptures contrast perfectly with the ancient castle.
I don't know much about modern art, but the main thing here is to connect intuition. For me, these works are a great addition to the surrounding nature. These stones seemed to have grown out of the ground and someone's talented hand had cut their.
І нарешті ще одне симпатичне місце — алея сучасних скульптур. Все, що можу сказати розумного: вони з’явились тут після пленеру скульпторів у 1996 році. На мою думку, сучасні скульптури чудово контрастують зі старовинним замком. Я мало тямлю у модерному мистецтві, але тут головне підключити інтуїцію. Для мене дані витвори є чудовим доповненням навколишньої природи. Вони ніби виросли з землі і чиясь талановита рука трохи обтесала ці камені.
Smiling lions are the calling card of Olesky Castle. In general, the lion is a favorite character in medieval culture. These lions are distinguished by their friendliness. Tourists love to climb on their backs and pose for photos.
Леви, що посміхаються — це візитна картка Олеського замку. Ці леви вирізняються своєю дружелюбністю. Туристи залюбки залазять їм на спини і позують для фото.
