Every Wednesday you can walk with me in a different city! So, this time we flew from Athens to Dubrovnik!
Let's return for a moment to the beautiful capital of Greece, where we lived for four days and this city left good memories in my heart. The walk through the old city, when Darinka was dressed as a Greek goddess, continued in a very beautiful park, where @orestistrips took us. I was very happy to meet a new friend hivian, who from the first days of the war in Ukraine wrote me comments and supported us, offering his help if we want to come to Greece. And here was such an opportunity, and we met near a super store of exclusive natural sweets. Orestis treated us to fruit cakes and we went for a walk to Hadrian's Arch, where we took memorable photos.
So hive gives us real friends all over the world. We are infinitely grateful to Orestis for his openness and desire to help, for a nice evening, and for communicating in English! You can read in my daughter Darinka's post about the wonderful park where we walked...
And we're off to the next country of our #TheLongestTrip
Why Croatia? There were probably two main factors why we decided to fly to this country. Because the flight from Athens to Dubrovnik cost only 80 euros for the three of us. And because our friend from Kemer recommended us to visit this cool town.
Only about 1.5 hours, and we found ourselves in another country.
A funny moment of a watering hole at the airport, where there was a tap with drinking water near the toilet. But we threw away the empty bottles in front of baggage control and had nowhere to get water! That's why Darinka drinks like a calf :) I first saw such a tap with drinking water at the Athens airport.
Again, a thrilling feeling as the plane leaves the ground and flies above the clouds. Below you can see such a beautiful Earth with forests and lakes! Thank God for our trip and wonderful emotions!
The plane landed and I took a photo of its colorful tail :)
And this is where the trip to the country began, which turned out to be not at all cheaper than Greece (in contrast to our expectations!)
Taxi from the airport to the old town of Dubrovnik - 40 euros! Like half of our flight...
We came to the street where our rented apartment was. But the owner did not answer, because it was not time for settlement. We were hungry, but with our heavy backpacks we did not want to go in search of a good cafe, so we sat down in the nearest cafe. 2 salads and a vegetarian burger for Darinka - cost 23 euros.
And I wanted to go to Turkey again, where for such money I could eat red fish and my favorite lentil soup!
The apartment turned out to be cute, but the main thing is the view from the window. It was on a fascinating old town.
We rested, changed clothes and went to the sea. I fell in love with the city of Dubrovnik at first sight. This is a city with a very bright unique face.
The first impression is that the Adriatic Sea runs into a small bay, which is limited by the wall of the ancient fortress. I have never swam so close to the ancient walls. It was a new feeling, a crazy euphoria. The sea is colder than the Mediterranean, the water is dark and at the bottom there are quite sharp stones covered with soft algae.
Daryna and I carefully climbed into the water. Do you see my funny pose? ))) Walking on the seabed was not easy :) There were canoes on the shore that you could go to the cave on the left.
Nearby, a castle could be seen in the sea, to which people climbed the stairs. We decided to go there too.
It was necessary to climb high up the stairs. Upstairs was a beautiful park with pine trees and a very nice aroma. The entrance to the castle was already closed after 19:00 in the evening. We decided to go the next day. But they took fascinating photos of the city views!
This is my contribution to the #wednesdaywalk challenge, initiated by @tattoodjay :)
I spent three days in the old city of Dubrovnik and had many unforgettable experiences. I will share!
Our #TheLongestTrip continues and I thank everyone who reads about our adventures ❤️
