That was a fun getaway day for our family in Can Tho. We went to a "one day indoor tour" that set up for us to experience the local life in Mekong Delta. It is not difficult to find this kind of tour in Can Tho, you will see the advertisement everywhere in this city. So you can look for it yourself or easily go through an agency.
Our family has around 10 people so we did not have to join the tour with another group. The agency has free bus which will come pick you up from your hotel from different time in the day, but it is normally occurs before afternoon time (3pm). So the best time to start your day is from 10 am I guess. But if you also want to participate in the floating market, 7 am is when the first tour of the day begins.
Our cousins walking on a little wooden bridge. Since they are both from the deep-south, it seems like they were not scare at all but so exciting to try everything. They even go back and forth a few times to see who would be "pro".
What did we do?
Making traditional Southern noodle
The very first thing they will show you in this tour is how to make some local cuisine. It changes every day during the week but our tour was making "hủ tiếu", a traditional noodle in the South of Vietnam. I always love all hú tiếu soup so I found that watching the process of making it and actually learn how to do it are really dope. The people here have been making this noodle by an old old machine that they must been used for ages. It is so magical that the machine still works for them very well.
We brought this home as a reward of the tour
Visit the farm
Even tourism is growing up in Can Tho as a trend, most of their people are still not giving up on their farm. The veggie and fruits are consumed majority in Saigon. In the summer, lots of tourists come here to visit their orchards to eat and buy fresh harvested fruits. The ticket to enter is just $4 and you can eat as much as you want.
Our aunty was so amazed by how big the cabbages are.
Bicycling skill competition
The funniest part of the tour to me must be this one. We had to ride the bike on the thin bridge across the river. It was so d*mn hard that I could not finish it at all and no one ever told me to bring an extra underwear, I did not expect this. I felt like it is impossible but actually there some guys did it after a few tries. Unluckily, my cousin was not one of them 😂.
My cousin tried at least 5 times before he really gave up. I drunk tons of Mekong Delta River water.
Team-building activities
Yeah you are right, my cousin did not join this game, he was scared that he could break the rope. This game is just about what team have the most member touch the middle of the rope without falling into the water. I could consider this game even harder than driving on that thin road.
Have you ever done marathon in the mud? This is my cousin after take a break. He smashed everyone and became the first-runner.
Sailing boat on the dam
My aunties looks so funny trying to move the boat. It might looks easy but NO, it is so difficult to keep the boat moving straight. Our boats hit each other a few time and we kept hitting the edge of the dam. It took us 30 minutes to finish our ride to the end of the damn and I finally fell off while walking back up to the land.
One of the longest bridge in the deep-south of Vietnam
We're on the way home after a long day of having fun. It was a break for us from work and the best time for all of us gathering. This is definitely a 1 day tour that you should try whenever you visit Can Tho, Vietnam.
