“After a day’s walk, everything has twice its usual value.” — G.M. Trevelyan
After having our long weekend here in the Philippines and classes resumed in their real scenario, I and my friends decided to go back home to prepare ourselves after having a break. While traveling on the road, we felt very hungry and decided to buy a roasted chicken paired with hanging rice for an easier way of eating. Looking for a perfect place to stay and relax for a while, we saw this beautiful Old Fish Port of Sogod, Cebu, and decided to drop by and have a short but meaningful stop.
While having a walk at the port, I saw this charming little boat at the center. This first catches my attention. The little boat in the middle is the only boat being docked in the place. I wonder where the other fisherman's boat could be docked. Though the sun could not be seen clearly because of the clouds covering the place, it's making its way to shine above the little boat which makes it look attractive.
A lot of locals visited the place because of the scenic beauty of the sea. Some locals were having their quick walk with their little ones and loved ones, and some were swimming together with friends.
I saw this group of friends who were swimming together and trying to compete with each other. They were throwing slippers into the sea and they tried to catch each of the slippers thrown. It was a wonderful experience who are good at swimming. I enjoy looking into their activities. I envy them because I do not know how to swim. Every time I am in the middle of the sea, I feel thrilled because I don't know how to swim and it makes me a little bit nervous if it will sink unexpectedly.
At the back, you can see a lot of locals swimming in the area. As you can see the port area was already damaged but still people are coming into the place. Its riprap wall was not that safe anymore and it's a little slide going down.
A closer look into the damaged riprap walls. Big rocks could be seen already near the area and swimmers were not safe. So take a little bit of caution in swimming in the place.
A lot of vendors selling street foods you can see at the back looking for opportunities to sell a lot every day. It was quite a short walk but staying here will make you realize how lucky we are to live in this beautiful world. Competitions may arise in our day to day basis but as long as we are still able to manage everything, just fight and remain strong. Just like the vendors, they sell almost the same food but they don't stop selling and they make it a living to earn even a single penny from the visitors coming into the place.
Having a short walk in the port will give you time to reflect on life. The sea is vast and the horizons you can see are limitless. Just like our life, a lot of things you can do while you are still alive and kicking. You can dream big and make it happen and you can do a lot of things to make yourself better someday. Do not just limit yourself to the things that you are used to having.
This is for my Wednesday walk in the Old Fishport in Sogod, Cebu, initiated by @tattoodjay, and the #makemesmile challenge of @elizacheng.
That's all for today my good friends. Have a nice day everyone😊
