Hello wonderful people of this amazing community. I hope everyone is doing fine as we explore another day.
After our exploration to the National Museums in Metro Manila, another sidetrip we did was a short walk to the walled city -Intramuros, which I always hear only on television or social media post.
This is my first time wandering to Intramuros. This place is known for its Spanish-era landmarks. And last June 9, 2024, it has further solidified its position as a premier historical, cultural, and tourism destination in the Philippines. And it's also known as the gateway to enhance understanding of the past and future.
It was a very hot afternoon. Crossing and hopping for jeepneys to ride on to arrive in our destinations is what we did. And because it's sunny today, a great opportunity to explore to this incredible place.
Arriving to the place, all I could say is just "wow", because you will really feel that you were traveling to the past seeing the different structures in the place.
I've seen first this structure when we reach our destination. This is the facade of "Palacio del Gobernador", where the site of the present building was the former residence of the governor-general during the Spanish Colonization in the Philippines. This colorful building will surely attracts everyone who will be at the place. And at the present times, certain governement offices housed inside this hall.

A few steps away from Palacio del Gobernador is the church of Manila Cathedral. The church is absolutely stunning and unique. This church is the Catholic Minor Basilica and the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila. On the inside are a gilded altar, a 4500 pipe organ, and a rosette windows with amazing stained glass decoration. On its ceiling you can see that it has also a unique design on it.
Outside you can see on its bronze door the different tragic events that leads to the cathedral's destruction. Attach on the side is the bell tower of the church.

As we walk further, you can also see the nearest San Agustin Church, which is called the oldest stone church of the country. And the only building left intact after the destruction of Intramuros during World War II.

The church houses several religious art and artifacts. In fact on the side on its museum, you can see an old bell which weighs 3,400 kilogram bell. This bell was taken down in 1927 from the belfry due to an earthquake in 1863.
On the side of the church, there are several cafes which is housed in an old Spanish design building. I am in awe in every cafes and restaurants I've seen inside the place. Sipping your cafe while discovering and indulging yourself to our history. Nice idea it is!

They truly treasure the place and make use of this Spanish design building to attract tourists. The colorful building houses not just one but a lot of cafe and restaurants. After a day of exploring the awesome Intramuros City, treat yourself inside and taste its foods offer for everyone. You can also witness those old stairs made up of stone where you can use to see the beautiful building.

It was fun and exciting discovering this awesome places in Intramuros. Stepping into history and making our travel memorable.

That's all for today's blog my dear friends. I hope you enjoy the place too.
Have a nice day everyone😊
