Here is a walk inside a botanical garden/aviary for this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay
This is Olbrich Botanical Gardens in Madison Wisconsin.
We were taking a road trip back from a cabin in rural Wisconsin and decided to visit this along the way back to Illinois.
Turns out it was a good pick because it was downpouring outside, so we entered into the aviary and it was even more hot and humid inside lol. I'm surprised these orchids were blooming under these conditions.
They had many jungle plants as well as various birds well hidden in all the foliage.
I wasn't able to get any shots of the the quail and other nectar eating birds but these large blooms were easy to get.
My daughter really enjoyed seeing bananas (plantains) growing on a real tree.
It was quite the jungle in here, lots of things always blooming. I suspect they might transplant some things here from other places to keep everything blooming.
Plenty of orchids and factoids about them. This one is called Odontocidium catatante, thankfully I took a picture of the label to even remember that name lol.
Yet more orchids. Sadly none of them had scent like the chocolate orchids. This one is called Doritis pulcherrima.
This strange thing is called Torch Ginger from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
This is probably some sort of monstera with massive leaves.
This garden has multiple levels too, you can look down and see some random birds flying around if you're lucky.
They even have a man-made river with fish.
And of course a man-made waterfall. This helps keep the humidity in the place.
Quite a nice surprising find for a road trip. I'll have to go back here when its not raining so we can see the outside gardens as well.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
