Why should I walk?
Because I need it, once in a while. Last Wednesday was one of those days where I put on my shoes, rode for about 30 minutes, then parked my motorbike somewhere and wandering around. That evening wasn’t really a “wandering” because I purposely wanted to go to a swan park that I’ve been eyeing for quite some time. The pictures of that park with a little pond on the internet and google maps looked so beautiful. But actually, I used to pass by the area everyday when I worked at a flower shop. But it was for less than a month, so lets not talk about it😅
I remembered that the swan park is near Spazio Tower in West Surabaya, so I went there last Wednesday. It was about 3pm when I left the house and drove for about 20-ish minutes. I always wanted to cycling around West Surabaya but I didn’t really know if its bike-friendly or not, so I wanted to find the right direction as well on my way to Spazio Tower. Even though I ended up passing the same road twice, because I’m blind when it comes to following google maps direction😂
However, I finally arrived. It was also my first time going to Spazio Tower so I need to find the motorbike parking area first, which wasn’t in the same building. I almost turned around and basically planned to go back through the road because I was worried I might miss the motorbike parking sign or something.. but then I saw it—the motorbike parking area, so I parked and left.
The distance from Spazio Tower to the swan park is about 1km. And the area I passed to get there is also not too crowded so I didn’t get honked by the cars at all, which is one of the things I anticipated😅 The area is a fairly well-known residential area in West Surabaya. There are apartements around it and one of the biggest mall in Indonesia (actually according to some tiktok content I watched, I believe it’s the biggest one). Some of the architecture around the area has like European feel, as u can see below. I’ve never been to Europe so what do I know. Nonetheless, this area is so beautiful.
its comfortable walking in this area because I also didn’t experience cat-calling which is another thing I anticipated the most. And I know a lot of girls would feel the same way. One of the reason why some girls doesn’t want to walk in a certain area (or any areas in general) is because they afraid of cat-calling. That’s why its not always easy to start a walking habit because the fear isn’t just something we create inside our heads, but a lot of people (at least where I live) still cat-calling girls for no reason here and there.
I believe it took me about 15 minutes to get to the swan park, and then I enjoyed the view and everything else it had to offer—which I’ll show you in my next post because I took quite a lot pictures. I exploring the swan park for about 30 minutes or so, then I left. I wanted to spend some more time at the Spazio Tower so I went there, but I took a different path than the one that I took to get to the swan park.
I’ve always liked this area. Despite the fact that I would never be able to buy a house around here (I never want to live in a big house anyway), I always enjoy passing through this area. Every well-known residential area I know always has a lot of big trees, maybe that’s the reason I personally love areas like this.
I think I only walked 2km that Wednesday evening, which was fine for me since I didn’t really have any goals in mind. Not to mention that I already cycled around different area in the morning, so maybe its enough for my cardio😅 that was my Wednesday Walk experience. Thankyou for reading, appreciated it :) See you in my next post, hivers! Here's the short video version on my YT👇
