Yep, I couldn't resist going to the local nursery to see all the beautiful flowers. Not, that I needed anything, I just felt like getting out of the house for a change.
This garden center used to have 2 large greenhouses. Over the years they have expanded and now have over 14 huge greenhouses on the farm.
I went early in the morning before too many people arrived, yet I had to wait for a parking spot it was already that busy.
I wandered through many of the high tunnels enjoying all the flowers, snaping a few photos to share. These flowers were in hanging baskets and were absolutely stunning. I was almost tempted to get the purple one, but decided I didn't need to spend the money.
This greenhouse was basically geraniums and ivy, and the baskets were all begonias. So many people were loading up their carts with geraniums and it doesn't take long to spend a lot when each plant is $4.00.
The white geraniums in larger pots were $10.99 each. I really like the white ones over the reds and pink.
When I saw these yellow begonias, oh I had a hard time resisting getting one for myself. I thought it was so adorable, but I have no place to hang it as all my spaces are already taken up with plants that I grew myself.
Outside one of the tunnels there were huge pots with different varieties of roses. I don't have any roses in my gardens, but I do love them. These were some of the prettiest ones that I saw blooming.
My favorite was this white one with a blush of pink. For some reason I'm attracted to white flowers this year.
Inside the main storefront are locally grown vegetables. This farm tends a lot of acreage in the surrounding fields. Years ago, I would come here to pick strawberries in June but at my age bending over that long would do me in. lol
I know these onions are grown on the farm, but darn I thought the price was a bit high. Glad I'm growing some of my own this year, maybe I can get some as big as these were.
Do you see the large plant in my cart? I broke down and bought myself a Rhubarb to add to the garden. I lost the one I had many years ago and decided to replace it. I love Strawberry-Rhubarb pie and now that I have strawberry plants, I had to get the Rhubarb too. Next year I should have a decent sized crop to make a pie.
All in all, the outing to the nursery was delightful and I was proud of myself for not spending too much money. I have plenty of lovely plants to enjoy in my own gardens after all.
Thank you @tattoodjay for this fun, weekly #wednesdaywalk posting community.
