Within a few minutes from our house I can be at the sea and this is pure joy for a sea lover like me! Early in the morning, the city is quiet and the sea usually calm. Markos and I certainly prefer it this way for our morning walks :)
The sun hasn't shed light to all sides of the castle, but we followed a route where we could fully enjoy the sun. Old railway tracks, a station that stopped working many years ago, but the tracks are still present. Flowers make use of them now and I am sure they are pretty happy that no train is about to pass. Crossing them marks the start of the port and a view to the other side of the sheltered bay. And the best view of the old part of the city!
Total serenity on the one side...
Signs of life to the other one...
I am excited that I managed to capture this moment with my camera. This cute little guy became the perfect model without knowing, without even trying :)
As we watched the boat with some tourists departing for a short tour around Bourtzi, the small water castle, I noticed that another boat driver, the one that was next in the line, started pulling his boat to the front with his hands. I know diesel is crazy expensive and the distance was short, but I found it kind of funny and he looked really cool doing this :)
We walked all the way to the end of the port and the lighthouse and I was surprised to notice that I didn't get any photos of it. My guess is that someone got overexcited and ideally should be off leash, but that wasn't the right place and it's not always easy to explain this to my four-legged companion...
People were slowly waking up and the tourist train was about to go to its base and welcome the first passengers. Seems like I started documenting this walk with train tracks and almost finishing with a (kind of) train.
A glance to the streets. Markos was determined not to let me take more photos, he had enough with these meaningless delays and having to stay still without understanding the point of all this. And he was right, after all that was mainly his walk!
This is my #wednesdaywalk contribution for the wonderful challenge by @tattoodjay :)
Happy walks everyone!
