In today's post I am going to show you a little bit of my first day in the Occupational Health and Safety lab where the professor gave us the evaluation plan and a taste of what we were going to learn in the semester during his class. The lab class really excites me because they are going to teach us how to use measuring instruments that as engineers we should know how to use when working in a company.

These tools or equipment that we will use will be: the thermometer to measure the temperature of the work area, the laser distance meter which calculates the distance from the device to the next point to which it is pointed with the same, the sound level meter which is a measuring instrument used to measure sound pressure levels, the luxmeter that allows to measure simply and quickly the real and not subjective illuminance of an environment and the caliper which serves to measure lengths that allows readings in millimeters and fractions of an inch, through a scale called Nonio or Vernier.

The concepts at first glance no one will understand them or because I will use them, but these instruments will allow me to the worker to be in optimal conditions to develop their activities in a more pleasant way. However, one of the topics we also touched on was the theory of errors, i.e., that these instruments or equipment to be used may have a margin of error if they are not used properly or are not calibrated. He also stressed that the equipment must be certified by a legal entity here (in my case) in Venezuela specialized in certifying such equipment. On the other hand, we also touched on the issue of precision and accuracy, that is, how with the equipment we can reach a value in such a way that it approaches or approaches. That is, accuracy refers to how close the value of a measurement is to the actual value while precision refers to how close the values of various measurements are to each other.

I know it will read a little bit confusing, but I more or less think I got my point across. And well, those are the topics we touched on in class today, next week we'll touch on others and so on. I really hope to pass with a good grade lab, I trust in myself and that I will make it. So much for my post today, sharing with you a little piece of my last college years. Espero se encuentren bien el día de hoyyy, en el post de hoy voy a mostrarles un poquito de mi primer día en el laboratorio de Higiene y Seguridad Laboral donde le profesor nos dio el plan de evaluación y un abrebocas de lo que íbamos a aprender en el semestre durante su clase. La clase de laboratorio realmente me emociona porque nos van a enseñar a utilizar instrumentos de medición que como ingenieros debemos de saber manejar a la hora de trabajar en una empresa.

Estas herramientas o equipos que utilizaremos serán: el termómetro para medir la temperatura del área de trabajo, el medidor de distancia laser este calcula la distancia desde el dispositivo hasta el siguiente punto al que se apunte con el mismo, el sonómetro el cual es un instrumento de medida que sirve para medir niveles de presión sonora, el luxómetro que permite medir simple y rápidamente la iluminancia real y no subjetiva de un ambiente y el calibrador el cual sirve para medir longitudes que permite lecturas en milímetros y en fracciones de pulgada, a través de una escala llamada Nonio o Vernier.

Los conceptos a simple vista nadie los entenderá o porque yo los utilizaré, pero estos instrumentos me permitirán a mí a que el trabajador se encuentre en óptimas condiciones para que desarrolle sus actividades de una manera más placentera. Sin embargo, uno de los temas que tocamos de igual forma fue la teoría de errores, es decir, que esos instrumentos o equipos a utilizar pueden tener un margen de error al no saber utilizarlos bien o por ende al no estar calibrados. También nos recalcó mucho que los equipos deben de estar certificados por un ente legal aquí (en mi caso) en Venezuela especializados en certificar esos equipos. Por otra parte, también tocamos el tema de lo preciso y exacto, es decir, como con los equipos podemos llegar a un valor de tal manera que se aproxime o acerque. O sea, la exactitud se refiere a cuán cerca está el valor de una medición del valor real mientras que la precisión se refiere a cuán cerca están los valores de varias mediciones entre sí.

Sé que se leerá un poquito confuso, pero más o menos creo que me entendí. Y bueno, esos son los temas que tocamos en la clase de hoy, la semana que viene tocaremos otros y así. Espero realmente aprobar con buena nota laboratorio, confío en mí y que si lo lograré. Hasta aquí mi post de hoy, compartiéndoles un pedacito de mi última etapa universitaria.
