¿Como están hoy amigos de Hive?
A few days ago I was seeing on Pinterest many references of types of illustrations I wanted to do, some of the traditional drawing and painting, others of digital drawing. However, well, those digital drawings will remain pending on the list by the time I have the money and I buy a graphic tablet, at that moment I will be able to go up to a different level of art that I want to master.
But of those references, the ones that caught my attention were those that combined traditional and digital art.
Of course, my references are much more elaborate things than the illustration I come to show you today. But this served as an experiment to prove where I had to go to achieve my goal.
Hace unos días estuve viendo en Pinterest muchas referencias de tipos ilustraciones que quería hacer, varías de dibujo y pintura tradicional, otras de dibujo digital. Sin embargo bueno, esas de dibujo digital quedarán pendientes en la lista para cuando tenga el dinero y me compre una tableta gráfica, en ese momento podré subir a un nivel distinto de arte que quiero dominar.
Pero de todas esas referencias unas que me llamaban bastante la atención eran las que combinaban el arte tradicional con el digital.
Claro, mis referencias son cosas mucho mas elaboradas que la ilustración que les vengo a mostrar hoy. Pero esta me sirvió como experimento para probar por donde era que tenía que ir para lograr mi objetivo.
I'll tell you a little bit about the process:

I did this illustration in my sketchbook, in one of the last pages, I finally finished it even though I did not take advantage of it as I would have liked, yet some pretty cool drawings came out.
Esta ilustración la hice en mi sketchbook, en una de las ultimas páginas, ya por fin lo terminé aunque no lo aproveché como me hubiese gustado, aún así salieron dibujos bastante geniales.
It is a fairly simple profile portrait, when I did I drew an ordinary person, without many characteristic features, so I decided to add a cut on his eyebrow an earring and erased the haircut I had made and drew curly hair to give him a little more flow and style.
Es un retrato de perfil bastante sencillo, cuando lo hice dibujé una persona común, sin muchos rasgos característicos, así que decidí agregar un corte en su ceja un arete y borré el corte de cabello que le habia hecho y le dibujé cabello rizado para darle un poco mas de flow y estilo.
I did this I went to the digital part, I took the drawing to the scanner and already when I had it on the pc I opened it in photoshop to clean it a little.
Hecho esto pasé a la parte digital, me llevé el dibujo al escaner y ya cuando lo tenia en la pc lo abrí en photoshop para limpiarlo un poco.
Using the clone buffer tool I cleaned all those imperfections that had the original drawing, sheet stains, some wrinkles that had been highlighted after scanning and very high lights that also looked a little bad.
Utilizando la herramienta de tampón de clonar fui limpiando todas esas imperfecciones que tenia el dibujo original, manchas de la hoja, algunas arrugas que se habían resaltado luego de escanearlo y luces muy altas que también quedaban un poco mal.
Después de haberlo limpiado lo suficiente, ajusté el contraste un poco a través de 2 capas de curvas, una en modo multiplicar para ajustar las partes más oscuras del dibujo y otra en modo de trama para darles más luz.

Having made those small adjustments the drawing changed quite a bit, now I had a better presence, but it lacked the different touch, so I took a default brush of photoshop, and made a few brushstrokes with it, duplicate that layer to give more strength to the brushstroke and then apply a layer mask to better refine the line and make it straighter.
Habiendo hecho esos pequeños ajustes el dibujo cambió bastante, ahora tenia mejor presencia, pero le faltaba el toque diferente, así que tomé un pincel predeterminado de photoshop, y realicé unas pinceladas con el, duplique esa capa para darle mas fuerza a la pincelada y luego aplique una mascara de capa para refinar mejor la linea y que fuera mas recta.
After all this the final result of the illustration would be this:
