I was thinking recently about what to draw and what tools to use. I thought, ok I lie drawing on a dark background, preferably something vividly bright, hm… And it hit me. I have my kids scratch off papers, why not try something in Grattage technique? It looks like a Grattage, but physically it’s easier to do.
So here we go, I decided to draw a rainbow zebra 🦓.
Materials used.
Regular pencil
Pink Eraser
Scratch off paper
Wooden stick
When it’s something more detailed like this drawing I usually begin with the pencil sketch.
Then I carefully scratch off the parts that I want to be colorful.
Stripe after stripe I keep patiently working, hoping for the best result. The good mood and positive thinking is a 50% of success.
When I was done with the neck stripes, I moved to the ears.
Here I’m working on zebra’s mane (I hope I spelled it right🙈).
Here is our beautiful Rainbow Zebra. I think I’ll make a sketch for my kiddos, they’ll be excited to create one too🤗.
I hope you enjoyed the process!
