When I started drawing, I was a passionate fan of Henri de Toulouse Lautrec. Probably the most extravagant and fun painter of that unrepeatable era of Paris at the end of the 19th century.
He is great in handling space, color and drawing. I could spend my life learning from him.
One thing that caught my attention was how he placed characters in the limits of the drawing frame. Sometimes he drew half a silhouette entering the pictorial space, others, leaving it, with the gaze lost, just like when one comes out half drunk from a pub.
Creating in some way, a third virtual palne between the viewer and the frame, leaving the viewer to decide if the character is part of the frame or not.
Today I want to pay tribute to Henri de Toulouse Lautrec, in this very Parisian scene. A woman returning from shopping, strolling through the Georges Brassens park, or a woman captured by the big painting of a forest?
Hope you like.
I wish you a good week and if you have a good day, frame it.
kind regards,
Javier
