Graphite pencil on bristol paper, 5"x7"
I found this old barn near Dinsdale, Iowa, on an abandoned farm acreage. It is of unusually large size as Iowa barns go. No longer in use as originally intended (for housing animals and storage of hay and straw), it is now deteriorating and pretty much empty except for storage of irrigation pipes.
I loved the setting, the character of the barn and the way the sunlight was lighting up the scene.
I used a broadstroke pencil technique, laying down decisive strokes with the side of a graphite 6B drawing pencil.
