Hello everyone 🤠👋🏾
Trust y'all are doing good.
The 100 Men vs 1 Gorilla trend got me thinking...not about the fight, but about the gorilla. The strength is obvious, but what about the calm behind the eyes? That quiet stillness before a move is made. That’s the side I wanted to capture in this drawing.
I sketched this portrait using a HB graphite pencil for structure and proceeded with Marie’s soft charcoal pencil for the shadows and depth.
The Tombow mono zero eraser helped me pull out the light in the face and on the fur. I also used tissue for smooth blending across the fur and skin, just to keep the transitions soft.
There’s something about the gaze that says, “I don’t need to roar to be powerful.” That silent confidence was what I tried to bring out.
Thanks for stopping by. Let me know what you think in the comments and hey, who do you think would wwould you pick the 100 men or the gorilla?
