Since I first learned about Communities long before they were a tangible thing I knew I wanted to start an art community. Eventually I'd love to export this out to it's own frontend, but I don't have much interest in a straight condenser clone. I had ideas for how I would customize my frontend and the Steem Art Archives are an adaptation of one of those ideas.

@jaquevital
Drawing of Ragnar Lothbrok | Vikings Original Payout: $0.67
The idea was to have the landing page of the front end, be a sort of "Best of" page where I would cherry pick all the best artwork throughout Steem for all time. Originally it was just about creating a place where I could control the quality, so that whenever people landed on the site they'd be confronted with more amazing art than they have time to look at.
It's getting to actually having a place where people would come to consume content vs engaging in the rewards game here. Which I love btw, but it can interfere with the simple idea that if this is a site where people are sharing content, they should be able to do that without being bombarded with a ton of low value content.

@karadjinovic
The Art of Marko Karadjinovic Original Payout: $28.75
The issue that kept popping into my head with this is that I felt like since me, or anyone that creates a frontend benefits off of ALL the content on Steem, it seems a bit crappy that the authors only benefit for that first week, then are cut off even though they're still providing value. That's when I thought up the Steem Art Archives where instead of just linking to those posts, I could make new posts and set these artists as 100% beneficiaries.
Most of the work I'll be showcasing is from posts that are LOOONG past payout, mostly over a year. Also most of these artists no longer post as most of the artists that I followed eventually fell off and stopped posting, but if they ever come back I'd hope they'd be pleasantly surprised that their work has been working for them while they were gone.

@darita84
ART SECTION DAVID THE MIGUEL ANGEL REALISTIC DRAWING Original Payout: $27.58
I'm hoping that artists will wake up and smell the WEB 3.0 and understand that their artwork is now an asset. Like owning real estate or maybe royalties from a book or music are a better analogy. We've got the tools now to make this work and it's only going to get better from here.
Take Advantage.
Now for whatever reason, if you don't want me sharing any of your past artwork, just let me know and I won't, no questions asked, but as I mentioned, I'm mostly focused on people that are no longer here(there are plenty unfortunately), but yea, either way, just let me know and that will be the end of it. I speak a bit more about what I'm doing in this post, so if you're still confused check that out.
Also make sure to follow @onchainart and subscribe to the OnChainArt Community for all the greatest art on Steem, old and new.
