Hi Leute :) Da ich heute Abend damit beschäftigt war, neue Bilder für meinen Mann und seine Musik zu basteln, denke ich, dass dies der richtige Moment für diesen kleinen Repost aus frühen Steemit-Zeiten ist. Ich hoffe es gefällt euch!
Probably everyone who follows one of our blogs, has heard that my husband @michaeldietrich is a singer songwriter. Of course, most of the time I take care of his artworks.
During the completion of his beautiful album "Across Open Seas" two years ago we developed the artwork together. The cover picture was quickly in shape, because on the subject wanderlust - ocean - reverie I had already created some time before a picture. I really wanted to adapt the format to the previous album "Down Empty Streets" to have a red thread. For this I had to transform the turtle image into a panorama, the second turtle had to be on the back, but there were a few jellyfish.
Dass mein Mann @michaeldietrich Singer/Songwriter ist, hat wahrscheinlich schon jeder mitbekommen, der einen unserer Blogs verfolgt. Da liegt es natürlich nahe, dass ich mich in den meisten Fällen um seine Artworks kümmere.
Während der Fertigstellung seines wunderschönen Albums "Across Open Seas" vor zwei Jahren entwickelten wir gemeinsam das Artwork dazu. Das Coverbild stand schnell fest, denn zu der Thematik Fernweh - Ozean - Träumerei hatte ich schon einige Zeit vorher ein Bild geschaffen. Das Format wollte ich unbedingt an das vorangegangene Album "Down Empty Streets" anpassen, um einen roten Faden zu haben. Dazu musste ich das Schildkrötenbild in ein Panorama umwandeln, die zweite Schildkröte musste auf die Rückseite, dafür gab es ein paar Quallen dazu.
The inside I wanted to make something more concrete - closer to the artist. This should not just be a normal photo of a musician, I wanted to integrate him it into a surreal environment. I came up with various elements that might fit, made a paper ship out of notes and lent my parents' gramophone. I think there's a lot to interpret here :)
Die Innenseite wollte ich etwas konkreter gestalten - näher am Künstler. Dazu sollte nicht einfach nur ein Foto von ihm erscheinen, ich wollte es in ein surreales Umfeld integrieren. Ich kam auf verschiedene Elemente, die passen könnten, bastelte ein Papierschiff aus Noten und lieh das Grammophon meiner Eltern. Ich denke, hier lässt sich viel interpretieren :)

The background was - as with the first album - an old map, photographed from a small globe from the flea market. This map is also the subject of the CD itself for both albums. Also, this globe is the main actor in the little lyrics video that we made for "Chasing the Morning Star" (from 3:50 you can see the map in detail).
Der Hintergrund war - wie schon beim ersten Album - eine alte Karte, abfotografiert von einem kleinen Globus vom Flohmarkt. Diese Karte ist bei beiden Alben auch das Motiv der CD selbst. Außerdem ist dieser Globus Hauptdarsteller in dem kleinen Lyrics-Video, das wir zu "Chasing the Morning Star" gebastelt haben (ab 3:50 sieht man die Karte im Detail).
